So Ive been using Collinite 845 for 2-3 years now and really never had this happen. But Ive been getting horrible water spots on my hood. I dont want to have to use a dedicated water spot remover every time it rains... So what Im thinking is, should I try another wax/sealant? I really dont want to coat the truck as its big and I feel that Id have some mess ups along the way. Its too big of a project for me to tackle, IMO. Would something like Powerlock work better? What about Ultima Paint Guard PLus?

You aren't getting spotting elsewhere on the car?

Does the car live outside? If so, do you park beneath trees or other sources of contamination that may aid in the spotting?

My vehicle is coated with CQUK, but I use Reload to boost slickness. I've had zero problems with water spots and etching.

FWIW, I don't have a garage and my parking spots in front of my townhouse are under a tree.

I think contamination from the trees or other airborne things is part of the cause of your waterspots.

I park in the open but there are trees about 15' to the left.

So then what are my options.? Polish every other week haha. It only spots on the hood, where the water sits

I don't think it's your lap. Probably air pollution in your area that is causing the water spots. Park somewhere else for a few days and see if it stops.

Yeah I think it's the smoke stacks we have close... Sucks. Maybe I need something that sheets water versus beads.

That could be the culprit. If you find a lsp that sheets rain water rather than beads, let me know, cause I haven't found one yet. :props:

You may try some Collinite 870 which is a cleaner wax then top with 845 or 476S. The 870 may clean any pollution from the hood. I have used 870 on the Wife's van and it definately cleans.

But I can't go 2 weeks w.o spots
... I may get some 870, but I mind as well use a ultrafine polish too. Maybe a cleaner wax is that much safer tho

Does your property have a sprinkler system? If so, maybe your car gets hit with hard well or town water when the system kicks on?
