Several months ago there was a discussion about what CG V-7 was and how it works. The big question was if after a couple of uses did it remove the LSP. This doubt was based on several obversations that after a couple of uses that the beading of the previous LSP disappeared. In my supplies I have AW, Meguire's Ultimate quick wax, Blackfire polymer spray. Souveran spray wax and V-7. I backed off using V-7 due to the fore mentioned discussions. Since I have a fair amount of it,was again wanting to consider using it again but still not sure. It's supposed to be a sealant but most have said it's more of a quick detailer and the durability as a sealant is short termed. If in fact it has been shown to degrade a LSP I will not use it and rely on my other products, that, by the way, seem to do a good job. Thanks for your thoughts.

The real purpose for hybrid v7 is unknown but one can make a educated guess and in my experience with the product I never really seen it weaken my lsp but improve it therefore I think it uses special chemistry to remove any wax, compound, etc residue also depending upon how you apply the product is the way it will work but either way it replenish or replace lsp(sealant) until your next wash or detail

I used it for a while as my go to spray sealant. But then I moved onto Wolfgang sealant takes a bit longer to flash but beads better an lasts longer. Now I just use v7 for glass as the Wolfgang adds to much shine and I had a few customers complain about having Wolfgang on there glass saying it caused a bad glare at night when other headlights hit it

IME V7 is a very nice, streak free quick detailer. I dont consider it a standalone product in any sort of way, but it will help boost and/or prolong water beading from your LSP.

My experience is it sheets better than beads.

If you put it on top of an LSP that is a heavy beader, it will mute that pro. perty as it is now the last product on the top. That's not a indication that it will degrade any other LAPs, unless there is some sort of carrier solvent in the V7 that does indeed break down waxes or sealants.

That was one of the questions that came up in the earlier discussions that maybe there was some sort of solvent in the V-7 ? However there was no conclusion reached. Some thought so and some didn't but many were seeing less beading after using V-7 over their existing LSP. Wheither the V-7 was degrading the previous product or simply covering it up I guess we will not know for sure. So, that takes us back several months to square one. Thanks for the rply

There is not a question in my mind.

If you put a product over another product, the resultant surface characteristics will be the very last product added.

If I wax my car and it rains, I'll get the beading/sheeting properties of that wax. If I then go for a drive in the rain, the characteristics of the beading and sheeting change as more and more road film accumulates on the surface.

Heck, even a QD with any gloss intensifiers will change the characteristics of the surface beading.

Perhaps it's the simple action of wiping that degraded the previous wax layer when applying V7. I know it never really did anything to the KSG I put underneath it, other than make the paint shine like the day I sealed it.

Never used it for protection, just used it for car shows as a qd, greatly enhances clarity of paint. I dont think it will remove the underlying wax, if it does then i should have observed decreased depth created by the wax. It just beads poorly and doesn't last long as a sealant. As said by the others, you will observe the properties of the last product you put on top of your paint.
