So I picked up some Griots Paint Sealant to try out..I have too say that the young kids working there need to brush up on product knowledge and what their competitors are selling.

very cool. it's always nice to stop in locally and see first hand all what a company/manufacturer carries...

Yes and true..Im going to do a Silver/Grey Metallic Acura RDX hood with a Brand X Carbnuba Wax and the other half with the Griots Paint sealan addedt on the other half and do a shine/water test to compare with video very soon..once my MF's dry.

I tend to leave the knowledge and research up to me. Better for them to know little than lie big.

Well you have to look at it from a different point of view. They are only there to show off and sell Griot's products.

They probably couldn't tell you what cause machine polish 1 to be more abrasive than machine polish 3, except it does.

It's a nice store, I've been there a few times but it's just to check out products, stock up.

I find "genuine" support is lost at most American businesses these days, autogeek aside. I worked at Best Buy in the home theater section for 3 years. I finally left because I hated lying to people about buying certain cables, pushing the wrong kind of knowledge etc.

Did u work at the bestbuy in Tacoma? I worked there as the Samsung Galaxy Tablet Rep.

Without doubt ^

I could get better advice from a bum off the street then the people Griots has answering there phones. The staff is very friendly, but you can tell they don't know sheet from shinola about detailing products; which I find odd

Has the conversation switched to Best Buy? If it has I have a great story about that place :)

Thats too bad with griots cause you always see that he says his staff is well trained talk to any one for help

Sent from my DROIDX using AG Online

best buy has some of the worst customer service i've ever experienced and i will never give them any of my money ever again. i hope they go out of business and close their doors for good...

That's why I left... I genuinely had an interest in home theater. When I worked there, I knew almost every television, receiver, brand on the market. I knew what was coming, what was out there etc.

Even though it's non-commission, they tried to hammer it into us to upsell product protection plans, warranties, and house brands. I hated having to recommend Monster cables to the old man who wanted to replace his 1970's Zenith that finally broke for him. I suspect it's also why I didn't really make "supervisor" etc. Maybe I just wasn't cut out to be a salesman. I worked there because it was a field I was interested in,

I wouldn't say it's the employees that are the problem, but the corporate culture there. Sometimes, the floors are ridiculously understaffed. Also, customer support staff is different from "product" specialists.

Agree 100%. Its been fun watching them die a slow death. Once Amazon gets their free same day delivery up and going, that will be it.

Unless the original owner does succeed in his buyout, and his plan to turn them into an 'Apple Store' type experience. That actually has a shot. Im not a big Apple fan boy, but man is it easy to get good service there, tons of knowledgeable salespeople wandering around, and you dont have to wait in a line, the salesman rings you up right on the floor.

i disagree at least IME. the employees would rather talk to each than help the customers or assist customers instead of walking away...

Really? I could never 'walk' away from a customer. I have had a few who walked away from me because I was a bit too eager to help :p

Would you remember what part of the floor they worked for? At our store, the people who worked in 'media' were typically the unhelpful, only in it for the check types. They're the ones who run the music, gaming, entertainment aisles and usually the ones just standing around.

Sorry this thread has gone off-topic. Would I want Best Buy to go under? No, there are thousands of good honest people who work for them. But they do need to keep up with the way modern electronics are bought and sold.
