I too put a note on my dash by the shifter that says Please Do Not Wash Thank You.
I learned the hard way. Back in 05 I went to a new (i moved to a new city) chevy dealership for a recall on my truck (indigo blue) during winter. I didnt realize they would wash it, I mean run it quickly through their "no touch". Truck had salt on it and when it came out it was blue again with a ton of scratches. I argued about it to no avail with the mgr. I ended up polishing them out in a 40 degree garage.
I have had my new truck in for warranty work and I use the sign and also tell the advisor to put a note on the paperwork. Knock on wood they have complied with my request.
