Streaks on window after cleaning

Forget everything anyone has ever told you about streak-free windows and glass. I have tried everything including the "wonder" towels a vendor here sells as a "miracle"...forget them! Newspaper...no! Microfiber...no!

I have tried everything including the "wonder" towels. Nothing works but what I am going to share here. Use the below and forget it. I guarantee you will get perfect, streak free windows, both inside and out.

One very, very, very important key is NOT to wash your towels using fabric softener and Bounce Dryer sheets. These both contain oils which will get on your towels and smear the glass no matter what you do. You cannot have either of these products on your towels when you clean your windows.

Also, DO NOT use any glass cleaning towel when you are cleaning house. Any furniture spray, Pledge, etc., will not completely wash out of the towel leaving smears on your glass when you go to clean them. These tips are both MANDATORY or you will not have streak free windows!

SURGICAL BLUE HUSK TOWELS. These are incredible! You can get them for next to nothing on EBay. Used are fine. The older they get the better they work. I have some that are 20 years old and still work perfectly! Use them ONLY for your glass. If you use them with Armor All, Aerospace 303, etc., to clean your interior, all of the product will not wash out leaving you with smudges and streaks on your glass!

STONER INVISIBLE GLASS SPRAY. Available at Home Depot, Auto Zone, Checker Auto, Pep Boys, and AUTOGEEK. About $6 a can.

STONER 95161 INVISIBLE GLASS REACH AND CLEAN TOOL. There are other brands out there. Griot's sells one as well. ONLY BUY ONE THAT HAS A TRIANGLE HEAD! Other companies make one with a square head. They use a blue microfiber bonnet. Do not use these...period!

This is it folks! The big secret is not to wash any towel in the washing machine with fabric softener. Don't ever use a Bounce Dryer Sheet in the dryer. Both of these contain oil which will smudge your windows! Don't believe me....go rub one of the dryer sheets between your fingers and feel the oil left behind.

Definitely forget buying one of those "miracle" cloths. WASTE!

Windex is actually a great product. Here in California where we have an Argentine ant epidemic, nothing has ever compared to the instant killing ability of Windex. I don't know what they put in it. But when faced with a mass attack of these pests, one spray instantly kills all ants it comes in contact with.

So does Meguiars Super Degreaser. I tried it on the trash can in the backyard covered with ants and they were all instantly done

When all else fells use a damp rag, water only.
Wipe glass and buff with a dry towel.
Terry cloth works best, zero streaks.
We do this often at my shop.

Streaky windows is the major problem which occurs during window cleaning. I really get frustrated each time I try to clean windows. For the past few weeks I stopped cleaning my windows. I started steam cleaning my car. There are many advantages in steam cleaning the car https://www.the-vacmaster.ca/blog/steam-cleaning/advantages-of-steam-cleaning-your-car/. I tried many ways, but this is the only method by which I get a streak free window. Glad to see this post. I got more methods to try. Will try all your suggestions. Hope to get a good result.

Please try the damp rag method, it works.
An old detailers told me about it, no streaks.
Just make sure you ring out the rag well and buff right after.

I use to use the blue towels mentioned.when you buy them some are different.some don't absorb well and some are great and will last for years.water Sprite chamois dampened followed by a clean micro will impress.Or d120 with a short nap micro no promblems.cleaning glass can be a pain,there is a certain way to do it.windsheild spray liberally on one side take your micro and swipe all the edges first and pull the dirt in the center then repeat again but don't reclean the edges just spray and final wipe.Glass cleaning streaks are caused when your all over the place.eges first then the center then reapply,intially there are two applications per section on windsheild.Ive seen guys try to tackle the whole thing at once sitting in the passenger side and trying to clean the driver side as well.The rear glass with defrosting lines always wipe left to right never up and down follow the lines.
