I am looking for a strong car soap to wash a car every couple of weeks that is not waxed or sealed. I have read people use APC in soap bucket or dawn but I am looking for a dedicated car soap that is strong but that will not damage the car's finishes. My main objective is to clean all the stuff left on the car after using a PH neutral soap which seems not to remove. road film, gunk. and stains which remain on the unprotected finish after washing with soaps that are designed to not remove protection.

The Meguiars Wash Plus easily removes bugs, tar etc.

Saw Strip Wash and thought it could be interesting...........

I'm curious as to why you don't apply
LSPs (Wax; Sealants) to the vehicle.

Is it an ongoing experiment;
or, something else? TIA.

It's my wife's new car. She doesn't want me doing anything to it, she tells me time is the most valuable thing in life and doesn't understand why people spend countless hours detailing their cars. She likes to have a clean shiny new car who doesn't so she takes it to a car wash unfortunately here in Northern California I yet to find one that does a good job sone even cause damage. So by default I now wash her car but she does not want me to do anything else to it so when I use most car soaps that are gentle or ph balanced they just do not get the car clean.

Absolutely no disrespect intended, but if that is her attitude toward her new car, it will quickly become an eyesore. :(

I should re phrases my question. What is the strongest cleaning car soap with no polishing properties?

I would not put much thought in the "polishing agents" in the Megs soap,I haven't noticed any type of polishing. Think about it your gonna go over a panel in just a few swipes and you'll be using a soft wash media(I guess). It really is a good heavy duty soap and works well.
I know time is important but have you thought about using something like Opt-Seal as a drying aid? Takes no extra time and will help you some when you wash

Go ahead and use Dawn, it won't hurt a thing. Super mild compared to a carwash.

If your wife wants a clean, new looking car but never wants to do any appearance maintenance beyond regular basic washings... You need to tell her that is simply not possible.

Ever use/hear the term "mutually exclusive"? Your predicament is a textbook example.

We all have differing definitions of what "new" looking is. It sounds to me like your wife's definition is to a much lower standard than most of us here.

I am starting to think I shared too much information. Can anyone give me some suggestions on what car soaps do a good job of cleaning with more strength without harming anything? I don't want to use dish soap or APC to the soap bucket.

Thanks

lol....well pretty much any soap will provide lubrication for your mitt, so......bugs and tar will require other chemicals/technique to get off....not waxing or sealing the car will be detrimental to the paint over time will go from new car to used car very quickly!

Sorry, (IMO only slightly) off topic but: Even if you don't polish the car, you should get some sort of LSP on there. There are lots of good options for Wipe On Walk Away style sealants that not only help the car look better, but to your wife's point: Cut down on time required to clean the car. Possibly even easier are the Sio2 "Mist on, hose off" options like Hydro Blue, etc.

I put more focused attention to my wife's car than my own, including always having some sort of wax or sealant on it (even though I haven't had time to give it a proper compound/polish), and the difference in time and effort required for a basic car wash is noticeable. Cleaning my car sped up noticeably when I started using Optimum Optiseal as a drying aid (no more time required than drying the car normally - actually, drying goes faster) or recently when I tried McKee's Hydro Blue.

On topic - For a strong soap, Car Pro Reset comes up often as a leaves-nothing-strips-everything car wash (usually referenced for coated cars where you want to restore the coating's properties).

Does your wife also think it is a waste of time to perform basic maintenance on your home? Mowing grass, trimming bushes, and cleaning bathrooms are all tasks that are time consuming - but are necessary to maintain the major investment made in purchasing a home.

If my wife was driving a brand-new BMW I would simply tell her that I am going to do what is necessary to maintain our investment, regardless of the time involved. Or, I would use the services of a professional detailer as needed if I could not afford to spend the time doing it myself.

Just my two cents (that I know you didn't really want to read or care about).

To answer your question... I'll second the recommendation to use Chemical Guys Citrus Wash Red.

So what does she do with her time that is so great?. The reason all that dirt and film is sticking is because you have no protection on it. Waxing a car 2x a year is to much time to invest? I guess she must be doing super exciting things 24 hours a day huh?

Wash plus it awesome!! A little does a long ways and it has minor abrasion so it removes bugs easily. I use it before a sealant or coating job
