Stripping LSP

Since wax wears off naturally, wear-n-tear since you applied the wax plush washing will have had a removing effect. As long as the paint feels smooth you should be good to go.:)

Mike brings up an interesting point that often escapes us.

ALL of the products we apply are temporary and naturally degrade or wear as soon as they're applied. The lifespan of these products vary from a few days to several months however they do begin to degrade immediately but gradually.

Contributing to their demise are;

  • Sun
  • Wind
  • Rain
  • Washing
  • Snow
  • No Rinse Washes
  • Detail Spray
We apply products to enhance and protect these finishes and they do provide a tremendous benefit. Compare a car that its finish has been maintained to one that's been neglected, the benefit it that obvious..

bump to this thread. should i buy citrus and gloss to strip paint? or should i add apc+ to my gold wash bucket or can i add power clean to my wash bucket. i dont want to walk around the car w/a bottle of apc to strip the paint. if i can't mix apc or power clean w/my soap then i will just get the cg wash.

You can safely mix Optimum Power Clean with your soap if you choose to do so. You can mix it with Dawn too. For what it's worth I use CG CWG now but used to mix Zep citrus or Meg's APC+ with my soap with no adverse effects.

Something is telling me that APC+ isn't paint safe. I'm not sure but you may want to check on that first.

I switched to OPC because it is. Do you think APC+ mixed 1oz/128oz. of water is that dangerous? I can see it as not being safe using it at lower ratios, but adding 3oz. of apc in 3 gallons of water is a high dilution, then mixing in soap at 1oz/gallon should help dilute the apc even more.

I'm talking in a ratio that would be enough to strip the LSP. I'm pretty sure 3oz in 3gal of water isn't going to get the job done.

so now the decision continues. do i buy opc or cg c+g????? lololol

64:1 For a regular car wax type products
20:1 For hi-tech polymer type products

Just go for the OPC, then you will be left with the best APC you can buy ;)

I'm not too sure I would believe those ratios though, IMO they seem pretty high.

quick quest dwayne. how much opc should i mix in w/my meguiars gold wash soap? i normally fill 3 gallons of water and 3oz of soap to wash my truck

i ended up getting a gallon of OPC dwayne:) now just need to figure out how much to add to 3 gallons of gold class shampoo to strip lsp. OR should i add OPC to an ONR wash

This is an example of why I practice myself and encourage others to always be open to new ideas, new products, new techniques, always be willing to learn and re-learn...

Pretty accurate at that time. And then coatings came along...

I have to admit I do not like this analogy.

Obviously the wax would not "fall off the car" but it could be washed off and that would be the same thing. Once I used 2 coats of wgdgps3.0 and let them cure for a full amount of time. I then topped this with pinnacle souevern. It looked good But I had to wash the car to get all the compounding dust off and I didn't realize that until after I applied the lsp's.

I washed with a pressure washer and I swear I blew all or most the carnuba wax off it. Obviously I can't prove that but It looked it to me
