Stupid things your customers have asked

so incredibly true

want to know how to shut them down? immediately hand them a business card. instant awkwardness for them (given that they don't actually want to pay to have it done, they just couldn't resist the comedic opportunity). Most of those people try to give the card back to you at that point which for some reason I also find funny

Nice move! Will try that next time! :props: Maybe just start washing their car & tell them to come back in a day or so. :buffing:

I had a small, used car dealer ask of I could buff the paint just long enough to heat it up and move it over to cover scratches.

Do you realize how hard it was to keep from laughing?

Hahaha! Ya must have laughed just a little surely??? I worked for a car dealership not to long ago & the salesmen always used to say "just throw the buffer over it" or "just give it a quick buff" . . . yep. :xyxthumbs:

I had a women with a family suv, very bad interior and exterior. I was offering a special 70 dollar complete interior detail which included extraction. Well when she arrives she is like i do not want my carpet extracted. So i was a little confused, then she explained that she did not want the carpet took out of her car because it will look bad. At that point she gave me a hundred dollars to wipe down the inside vaccum and wash the outside. Just wow is what i thought.

But it gets better i decided to extract her carpet to clean it. Then after she picks up her car she calls me in an hour or so and was like wow how did you clean the carpet so good and i told her about the machine. Then she goes wow thats amazing how it can take the carpet out and put new in. Thanks alot and hangs up. wow.

HAHA Awesome

I was teaching a friend proper washing technique with his SUV, after he finished, I asked him if he washed the roof, his answer "I never wash the roof"

Hahaha! Too funny! Not really a customer comment but i just can't get enough of the "you can do mine after you've done that one" from passers by. Like its the funniest thing ever & i haven't heard that before! :applause:

This always pisses me off. Especially when I have to stop a correction job to hear what they are trying to say, only to find its some lame, smart ass comment about doing their car next presumably for free.

My response is typically "The detail package on this vehicle is $XXX, we would be happy to do yours next for the same price." The last guy that pulled up asking to do his next, his truck died before he could pull away. Quite the awkward moment until he could get it started again. I couldn't help but LOL.

okay listen to this
a customer wants me to polish his car
i was thinking to do an all in one product and told him its gonna cost ya 25$
he said no thanks
he didnt want to pay anything :bat:

I get that all the time.

One of my friends has me wash and wax his car once every couple of months (mainly when hes home from school). I have no problem doing it for free since I have known him forever and detailing is enjoyable for me.

I tried to educate him on many occasions about the proper way to wash the car and he told me he started to wash it the week after I had previously done it but he saw it was going to rain and left the car with soap on it for the rain to wash away. I honestly had no idea what to say so I just said oh thats good.

Also another comment I hear often is "oh its raining today free car wash!". Heard this from a co-worker a week after he bought a brand new Mercedes e550.

I was talking to the "Best Detailer" in my area. he is booked up at least 6 months all the time, and get all of the high end cars in the area. so i figured he knew what he was doing and could give me some advice.

I ask him about his polishing techniques and he tells me Quote:"no matter what you do you can not get rid of the shine streaks from the buffer".

So i ask him if he has ever tried a DA. turns out he didnt even know what a DA was.

Same guy asked if he had a paint gauge wanted my paint measured. and he told me dont worry about using a gauge just go by eye.

Cant wait to show his cutomers what real paint correction is!!

This is the most annoying /frustrating thing....when ppl that are way busier and higher regarded than you in your area!! even tho they do subpar work and your skills are better/you do better work!

I had just got done washing my car and dried it when someone came and said ur car looks great wet.

I said thanks but its dry they kept telling me it was wet so I let her touch it and she still didn't believe it wasn't wet
