A friend wanted his 2010 Subaru STI paint improved. This would be a great car to test the new DP products out on.
Wheels have been not cleaned in a long time.
Dirty Engine Bay
Yikes! The front fender before washing. This is how the entire paint pretty much looked.
Wheel woolies were used to clean the barrels and between all the spokes. Sonax was used along with BF APC diluted 1:3(product:water) on the tires and wheels wells.
IX-Soap used in foam cannon and left to dwell. Dilution was 8oz of water and 4oz of IX-Soap. This soap does an amazing job degreasing the paint. While the IX-Soap was dwelling the emblems and crevices were agitated with the Wheel Woolies Boar’s Hair Detail Brush.
The car was rinsed then hand washed with CGWG and thick microfibers. The car was again rinsed.
Next was to remove the above surface contaminants. The speedy prep towel and CarPro Decon block were used with Mr. Pink as lube. I use a 5 gallon bucket with a grit guard and agitate the towel/block against the grit guard to release the contaminants. Car was rinsed a last time then dried with the Metro MB.
Exhaust cleaned up with some Collinite Metal Wax. I stopped with the one pipe almost clean.
Healthy paint numbers all over except the roof. The roof had readings in the 60s.
Now the fun started with the soft/sticky Subaru paint. I tried multiple combinations of pads and polishes. A few phone calls to a good friend and I finally discovered that the oils from the polishes I tried were not wiping from the paint.
With IPA not working it was time to test out the new DP Coating Prep Polish. I applied a little to an applicator and the oils wiped off leaving the paint squeaky clean! The decided combo would be Sonax PF & a green polish pad. The entire car was one step polished with the PF & Rupes.
With paint polished it was time to move to the glass. I used the Griots and a Orange LC and some DP High Performance Glass Restorer. The glass polish works great and went clear after about 3 passes.
The Sonax PF can dust quite a bit so I gently wiped the car off with Meguiars D114. Then the entire car was cleaned/prepped with DP Coating Prep Polish. I wiped half a section after using the Prep Polish.
With the car prepped and clean, I grabbed the new DP Paint Coating. For the applicator I used the 4x4 CarPro Suede Microfiber Cloth with a foam applicator. This process has worked great for other coatings I used in the past and helps me reduce the high spots.
The spray bottle was great and makes applying the product very easy. It also helps to control the amount of product used. The panels were inspected after each section for high spots and a microfiber towel was used to knock down any high spots.
I applied the Glass Coating with another 4x4 CarPro Suede Microfiber Cloth and foam applicator. Again the spray bottle makes applying the product very easy to apply. The spray also doesn't concentrate the product is a single spot. The glass was buffed to knock down any high spots.
With the paint and glass coated the wheels were up last. I used a yellow applicator and sprayed the applicator each time to apply the product to the wheel face. I used probably 5 sprays put wheel.

Wheel dressed with BF Tire gel and wiped. Wheel wells dressed with CG bare bones.

The new DP products worked great. The spray bottles really help control how much product is being applied and make it very quick to apply the coatings.
As I applied the paint coating the blue paint color looked amazing! Once I backed the car out of the garage after a few hours it looked even better in the sun.
The DP Prep Polish is my new go to product for prepping surfaces. It has a weird consistency but worked awesome. I had a spot where there was some polish residue that would not just wipe off. I applied a little DP Prep Polish to a soft MF and it wipe away instantly.
If I get durability feedback on the coatings from my friend I will be sure to post. Thanks for viewing.
