Hi forum. I have an '01 seville(sts)-black, paint is in good condition, thanx to Menzerna,Pennacle, and Wolfgang, but having problems with(light) scratches.
I think it's time to add that 4th step, compounding. I've been back and forth through AG products and forums and can't decide between Meg105/205, Menzerna com.,3M com., or Optima spray com/polish. Any help?:buffing:

Equipment that I have:
PC 7424XP ( good with a D A polisher )
Makita 9227c ( just got and first time user )

Pads: gray, orange, red
wool pad that came with Makita

Go Ultimate Compound from megs, very versatile product you'll love!!

Do you have any pictures? You say the paint is in good condition, yet you need to compound it? Apparently with a (new) rotary? When you say you have light scratches--are they deep enough to catch a fingernail in?

no.you can't feel'em with your fingernail. the scratches are mainly from a car duster and the wife and kids brushing by in the garage

If you post pictures people will offer suggestions using the least aggressive approach.

:iagree:Because your paint is black, you might have to finish down with Meg's 205 or Menzerna SF4500.:buffing:

I also have a Black caddy, started with Ultimate compound and followed up with Ultimate polish. Basically same as 105/205. I also found out that Microfiber correction system worked for me twice as fast with great results. I only used D300 and followed up with Ultimate polish.

wasn't thinking about pics at the time. But now it's dark. I'll try to get some pics up tomorrow guys. Too be continued.......

So what polishes and pads have you been using, and with those combinations you have been unable to remove your swirls?

what I'm using, and seems to work on swirls, is Menzena power finish.
Using the PC7424 and Lake Country CCS orange pads. And for shine Pinn. Soveran paste. Protection I use Wolfgang total seal. Both with grey pads.

So what is the difference between the swirls you have removed and the swirls you have left?

No problem with swirls. It's these light scratches or marring marks from wipe downs and dusting. Very dusty in Denver hard to keep the caddy dust free parked outside at work

But that's what we would refer to as swirls. So the Power Finish won't take this marring out? How much pressure how many passes with the orange pad?

I use at least 5 passes going left to right and up and down
