now that summer is here, along with the bugs, what do you fill your washer bottle with? best i found is blue coral bug wash. green in color. cleans like mad! a few swipes of the wipers and 90% of the aftermath is gone. if you look you can get the concentrate. makes 2 gallons.

I still have the RainX de-icer washer fluid in my vehicles.

What ever was left over from winter but I think it was Rain-X also.

Still have my winter rain-x de-icer in. When that runs out I buy the cheap blue stuff.

I get the cheap stuff and boost with P21S Conc. I still have 1Z AntiFreeze in the Ford.

Does this stuff harm the finish of the car when the overspray/runoff gets on the paint? Does it strip the LSP or anything?

Thanks!

Not on my car and I get alot on hood from power headlight washers

Just wanted to open up this thread for a quick follow-up question: Is there anything that I need to make sure isn't in washer fluid (i.e. is there some ingredient that cheaper brands use that is harmful to my car)?. Or anything is OK, and then certain brands or additives are just better?

Also, I generally use the same product year-round, so I'm concerned about just using water and an additive as I assume that would freeze in the winter.

Thanks!

IMHO...If you eliminate the chemicals/ingredients that are in the majority of windshield/headlight washer fluids that could be, as you asked..."harmful to my car", then you would have a windshield/headlight washer fluid that would not offer much, if any, "anti-freezing" (when and where needed) or cleaning abilities.

A look at these types of products' MSDS sheets will also offer some more useful insight that you could use for comparison's sake. :)

Ive never re-filled mine.

Everytime I get an oil change, where ever I go they seem to top it off with something.

I LOVE BMW intensive windshield washer fluid, 1 oz to the gallon since I don't have a Beemer with the fancy dispensing system.

Yeah, I haven't filled washer fluid in probably 10 years, but this weekend my Audi gave me an alert saying it was empty, so I figured as long as I was doing it myself I might as well see what the experts are using.

I think I've decided to go ahead with 1Z Einszett Kristall Klar. I have a couple of questions though for anyone who uses it:

The Autogeek inx. say to: Squeeze bottle to fill top reservoir with concentrate. Pour concentrate into empty windshield washer tank and fill remainder of tank with 1 gallon (128 oz) of water.

The bottle says to: take one part washer fluid (fill top reservoir which is 1 oz), mix it with 100 parts water (so that would be 100 oz), and then add it to the washer tank.

So I have 2 questions:

1. What is the correct dilution? Do I use 1 capful of product and 1 gallon of water (128 ounces), or 1 capful of product and just 100 ounces of water (or are 128 and 100 so close it doesn't matter)?

2. Do I mix it first (i.e. put the capful of product in a gallon jug of water, mix it a bit, then put in washer tank) or put the capful in empty washer tank and then add water to tank?

Thanks!

What I do is to pre-mix solution 1.25oz of 1Z to 1 gallon of water. Then add to washer tank. I do not add directly to tank since Audi tank is substantially larger than 1 gallon.

If only using 1oz /gallon works for you, go for it.
