What is the difference between carnauba content by volume and carnauba content by weight?
i.e.: 20% carnauba by volume
20% carnauba by weight

Is there any difference between the two?
 
yup...think about a 10 oz jar...you fill it with 50 percent of feathers by volume would take up 1/2 of the jar but as we all know feathers can be packed very tightly or very loosely....now put 5 oz of feathers by weight into the jar...which do you think is more accurate? really the better measure is to go by weight...volume can be misleading...most often when they do things by the "volume" measurement you are getting less...

You have a point there. By weight would make more sense with accuracy. Nice analogy btw haha..I think it's called analogy. Thanks for the info and reply :D

That's what I was thinking as well. I read somewhere....I totally forgot where...that there's a maximum percentage of carnauba that can exist in a tub of wax, and if that percentage is exceeded, then the wax isn't appliable. I wonder what that percentage is, besides 100% lol.
 
problem also is, each manufacturer seems to measure differently. Some even include lesser waxes like Montan, Beeswax and Paraffin.

Zymol includes carnauba wax and carnauba sap(I wounder how good that is) in their percentage.
 
Anyone know what the content is of IW845 from Collinite? That stuff is a puzzle of its own. Wattery when its warm but solid when its cool.
