Wow that's amazing!

As I stated elsewhere, give me 5 mins in the lab and I can make you a super omniphobic coating which will be equally useful for automotive use. The marketers with these products are extrememly annoying because they leave the general public with the incorrect belief that the technology is accessible to all.
Ummm... This was the point of my post. It IS accessible to all now. It's expensive, but it is available.
Also, if you could make a product in your lab so quickly, why haven't you done it yet? It's like people seeing art work and claiming that they can do it just as good, yet they never could.
I have, as have others (I am a chemical formulator and manufacturer by trade). Similar products are already on the market but they all have major limitations so are not products which do enormous volumes in an area like car care. In this particular instance, it is not art, it is cooking. The result of a translucent superhydrophibic/superoleophobic coating with very limited abrasion resistance can be achieved with 'off the shelf' ingredients. So much so that there is no actual chemistry in doing it. Not to say that this is what the ever dry product is but some examples are exactly this (look at the armor all wheel product as one you might be aware of).
I'd be a millionaire if I were you then. If a translucent product that has a contact angle of ~140 degrees and is abrasion resistant can be produced with off the shelf products, then why is it not everywhere? What are the major drawbacks? You already said that it is abrasion resistant, so durability shouldn't be an issue. Application isn't hard for other similar products. Also, it is clear. So what are the drawbacks?
The uses for such a product is unlimited and people would pay for a product like this. Why haven't you or someone else produced something like this? It seems like most, if not all, of the people on this site would buy a product like this if it were available.
