Surprise Car for this weekend's Competition Ready Detail Class!

Besides all of the other show cars and daily drivers the class will be training with this weekend I have a few surprises! Here's just one of them.

1964 Corvette!
Here's the car, please don't be fooled by its appearance to think it looks good. In the pictures it looks good but I always document the true condition for all our class project cars.

Now I'll shine a little light on the paint so you can see this car is going to be a real challenge for my class.

The goal for my class will be to use the RUPES paint polishing system to get this Corvette Competition Ready!

:)

Hi Bob,

This Corvette has a basecoat/clearcoat finish.

The Baggie test shows the paint to be as rough as sandpaper too.

The car looks great when not in the sun or without a Swirl Finder Light on it. Besides the swirls and contamination this car was just shipped to Stuart in an enclosed car hauler with a car cover on it and despite being in a car hauler the car cover rubbed against the paint and scuffed and scratched it.

The owner tried rubbing some rubbing compound to the paint by hand and that just added to the swirls and scratches.

:)

Are you going to have the IBrid there to try and get around those emblems, Mike?

Mike:
Just made my day , I was hoping to get opportunity to work on a vett.

Now that I'm at my hotel here in Burbank, California I'm able to upload pictures and then insert them instead of attaching them as thumbnails.

If you look at the first post you can now see the full size version of the pictures of the surprise car for my class this weekend and I have 3 more surprise cars!

Just wait till Thursday when you see another surprise car this class gets to train on.

It's big, it's black and it's all hacked up. And it's cool too...

There's actually ONE write-up of a car very similar to this car that I buffed out and documented on this forum a few years ago. It's one year older than the one coming in on Thursday.

Other than that I don't remember ever seeing another one detailed and shared on this forum.

Thursday... I'll post the pictures on Thursday...
