Are there any out there that work as well as the Brinkmann but are cheaper? I know $28 isn't much but times are tough right now for spending that much on a flashlight... I have a little LED light but it doesn't work for crap at showing swirls.

I'll say this Dwayne. I was leary of spending that as well. But it's an excellent durable light that has a nice recharge port. (save on batteries) My only problem with it is my wife always steals it. Check wally's world and amazon and see what you can but I don't think you'll find a light like this one for cheaper.

I have 'price checked' a lot of sites and AG has it down for the Brinkman which I hear is hard to beat. Maybe they will go on BOGO and you can send me the spare one. Oh and CEE DOG can get one for his wife and send me his spare too. :)

There is a Marine version which is somewhat cheaper in certain stores

Well if that's the case then you wouldn't miss it by sending it to me, just don't forget to put both chargers in the box :D

Yeah I have seen that one, I think I saw it for $3 less but it was Amazon or someplace like that. But the white and blue color didn't work for me. LOL. So OCD.

Dwayne, I may pick up a Fenix TK-40 and if it's as good as people make it out to be then my Brinkmann may collect dust.

First let me say OMG that is an expensive flashlight. Now I will say that I would be more then happy to buy the brink off you.

I really want the 3M Sun Gun, but may settle for the Fenix. Honestly though, I just have to make up my mind! :xyxthumbs:

I wish I had the coin to spend on a Sun Gun.... but $350+ is a bit rich for my blood.

It is a lot of money I agree, but when the guys from 3M performed a demo at Detail Fest I was sold! I just have to get through SEMA next week and then the Christmas shopping begins....

Hey! Free shipping LOL

Holy cow!! I thought the Fenix was pricey until I looked at the 3M, it better be good. I want to see comparison pics of those to see what you are talking about. You really noticed that much difference??

What's cool about the sun gun is that it allows you to see if a panel has been repainted. The guys from 3M had some sample pieces that were painted similar shades but under the sun gun you could see the true difference. They also had some that looked identical but once again when hit with the sun gun you could truly see a difference. Really it's geared more toward body shops to allow them to check paint blending. That's why I'm thinking about the TK40 and a high quality paint thickness gauge. The sun gun is still cool to me!

It's a wonderful life you lead my friend :props:

I have the TK-40 (TK-45 also) flashlight. The TK-40 probably shows swirls and defects in paint as well as the Sun Gun. Where the Sun Gun stands alone is its ability to match/show differences in color. At Detail Fest the 3M rep showed me a small panel which appeared to be one color, when lit with the Sun Gun 3 colors were easily seen. The Fenix is also a GREAT flashlight, I use mine a lot for outdoor actvities.

If in doubt there is a simple solution, buy both.

why the tk-40? because of its power?

this may sound hookey but from some automotive tuner places you can buy a ballast and headligh set up for $40. that a 55w HID bulb. build a simple set up and boom you have yourself a crazy flash light. of course it will need 12 volt but that should be terribly difficult.

i currently use a craftsman flashlight. it does a good job, but doesnt photograph worth a damn. ive considered a brinkman but cant justify it because im skeptical about how much better it can really be.

No need to be skeptical, it really works. I was skeptical too until I watched Mike use it at Detail Fest, then I got to use it. There's no doubt that it's a great light, I'm just ready for something else.

I tried a Stanley LED light, but it did not work very well for swirl finding so I returned it. Since then I have been searching for something different. The Fenix lights are ones I was considering. Also Brinkmann. Maybe I'll just wait to see if I get one for Christmas. :dunno:
