I'm hoping someone here can help save me from myself (and my fiance as she's tired of me looking at this site lol) as I'm OBSESSING over trying to figure out what combo of products I should buy. I've never done any of this beyond a basic car wash and interior cleaning but I bought this kit on sale the other day for my first DA machine:

Griot's Garage Random Orbital Polisher & Pad Kit

I also picked up some additional 6.5" orange/white/other LC CCS pads.

I know what wheel, tire, trim, glass etc cleaners I'm going to buy. I just can't figure out the best combo of compounds, swirl removers, polishes, glazes, sealants etc to use.

I have a White 2008 GLI with what I would consider minor/intermediate swirls only, nothing major to fix. I'll be working with a GG 6" and would like some suggestions for either a good AIO and LSP combo or a swirl remover/polish/LSP combo that are easy to use.

I'm starting to regret buying some of the XMT stuff on sale yesterday just so I could be done with it all!

:buffing:

first of all what products did you buy from the xmt line did you get. i have found that the xmt 360 works great as a AIO with a green pad. but you cant go wrong with the Wolfgang twins IMO (with a DA). but if you can let everyone know what products you got from the XMT line you might be fine an not have to buy anything else

Oops, major typo made in my original post. Trying to rush it before I went out for dinner. The last bit should read...

I'm starting to regret NOT buying some of the XMT stuff on sale yesterday just so I could be done with it all!

I didn't buy anything, but now wish I had picked a few things up as it sounds like it's a pretty good product and easy to work with. I'm a blank slate when it comes to products for the paint, don't have anything yet other than the DA which is on it's way in the mail.

o i see well since you haven't bought anything yet. if you would like to try the XMT 360 an the Wolfgang twins which IMO would work really well for you sent me a pm an id be more than happy to send you samples. so you can see what works best for you before you make a order.

I agree with the Wolfgang products. You cannot go wrong with anyof them. I also really like the Collinite 845 as my topper wax and it's a really good price. You can spend alot of money on products that are not as good as the Collinite 845. Trust me I have done it.

Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover, Wolfgang Finishing Glaze, and Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant. Winning combo!

have to agree use the WG twins/ lineup on my white truck looks great

Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover, Wolfgang Finishing Glaze, and Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant. Winning combo!

We must be due for a Wolfgang 12 Days of Christmas sale sometime soon...right? If only this package was on sale:

Wolfgang Concours Series Trio 2

Or get this kit and add the Swirl Remover and Glaze separately in one of the Twin kits:

Wolfgang Deep Gloss Concours Kit

Thanks for the suggestion! If the line goes on sale in the next few days it will be a done deal I think.

I'm allllll over it! Not so much a matter of if I buy the 3 product initially recommended, but how many others I try as well!

Your avatar says you re a Canuck. I'm in south surrey. When you re a newbie, there is nothing better than some hands on experience. During the weekends we find time to devote to detailing. I'll be happy to show you a few things, to get u started. Once you have a first idea of what washing, claying/decontaminating, polishing and finally protecting the paint is, then your purchases will be a bit more educated and you will enjoy tremendously participating in this forum.

PS: If the GLI is a Jetta, I have one as well.

It is a Jetta yeah, just added the new avatar. I've only had it for a few weeks now, loving it so far.

I live in Langley and work in South Surrey...small world. My Griot's 6" is on it's way to Blaine already and a good size order of Wolfgang products was placed today. I'm looking forward to getting started in January when I've got everything together!

That's great !!!

Hey if you want we can get together over any weekend. PM me if you want...

I'm a big fan of all the Menzerna stuff. Their polishes and their powerlock sealant is amazing.

Can't go wrong with M105/205 as well.
