In the first picture is the "detail man"the guy with the hand in his jeans pocket?
Lol, yup..

Isn't Lunch-time over yet?

Bob

Yeah...he's out buffing the thing!

lol, you guys know this was, like, my third job ever.. Right? lol

I got started again around 11, got interrupted around 12:20 and then got back to it by 1:30, now here I stand.. Trying to get a decent pic, but the clouds have moved in!!!

Pictures coming, forthwith!!

Even though I didn't really notice on the test spot, the UC left a bit of a haze on the decklid and certain spots around the car:

But the UP cleared that right up!

So the :Picture: are a bit underwhelming due to the distinct lack of direct sunlight, but I'll get some more tomorrow..

The current debate is if the swirls will "come right back" after a few weeks on the lot. (And and underlying debate of exactly what is putting them there, and how to avoid them)

Slow and steady, I'll teach em... ;) couldn't have done it at all without the help of AutoGeek and all you friendly folks here online!!! :)

Now I can't wait to do my Truck!! C'mon spring!!! :)

:happy_dance:

Thank you thank you, you're all far too kind!

:takes_a_bow:

The car Looks great!!!!! teach-um well.

that car will sell quickly now. :dblthumb2:

Well worth the wait. Now in that condition I think you can raise the price

lol, with the warm weather we've been having it should roll out soon, anyways...

Thanks for the kudos, folks! There's a 2011 SS/RS Camaro sitting next to it in almost the same condition! (Previous owner had excessive washing disease, me thinks) Now it I can convince the boss it's worth the extra investment to make it look brand new... AND the minimal investment in keeping it looking new...

Next topic of discussion at work? 2 bucket wash and grit guards... ;)

Awesome! Infinitely more saleable than before! I really enjoyed the thread, can't wait for more pics.

Looks good! Wishing you continued luck at convincing management and labor that proper methods are worth something...it will be an uphill battle.

WoW!! Was the 'detail' guy was impressed?
Combo of correct products, determination and the time makes the difference.
Great results.

If there is any hope it will lay in the fact that the owner has a couple collector cars (2002 Firehawk with 9k miles, etc) and he's onto what I'm doing..

I noticed a "Griots Garage" brochure sitting on his desk.. I placed the Autogeek brochure next to it, along with that $20 coupon they sent me...

i am currently composing an email to send him of before and afters of the Solstice, along with my time and cost estimates. If he can save a dollar, he'll consider it.

Please also bear in mind that our "detail guy" is not only very cool for even entertaining my suggestions and being open to new ideas but he's also just generally a really cool guy and I'll do whatever is in my power to try and stay on his cordial side...

Have him sign up on AGO and email this thread for him to see, might help your cause a bit.
I think your documentation is proof enough, pictutes tell the story.

Even better that he's cool about it, it'll make his job easier :dblthumb2:

This thread is awesome! You did a great job restoring that paint on the Solstice. Maybe you could work some type of bonus system for cars sold that were detailed with your "new" methods. Best of luck!

Lol, this day and age we're just happy to be in business at all! lol

But a pleasant thought.. For sure! :)

They will if he doesn't change his wash methods.

+1.

Kudos on your results...and product choices.:goodjob2:

Show him a link to the Rotary Flexible Backing Plate, lake country rotary backing plates, makita 9227 backing plate, dewalt 849 backing plate, circular backing plate and some 6.5" pads for the rotary. I'm willing to bet that he only has 8" pads on hand.

Nice! I'm sure a proper detail will increase the value. Even if the customer doesn't know the difference between a swirl and a squrrel (lol), they'll notice the paint is very shiny and smooth. Subliminally they'll assume the car was properly maintained and well taken care of, which will hopefully give you faster turnovers!

Great job!
