Swril remover ....again

"Keeping it simple" Isn't buying 7 new products it's working with what you have

This is key here. Sometimes all these choices can get overwhelming and everyone hates second guessing their product decision.

I think the op can get the job done with what he has. Just needs to have a lttle more patience and not everyone has some eraser hanging around. This isn't a show car just whip up some quick IPA(50/50 alcohol distilled water) and take your time with each panel making sure an adequate wipe down and inspection is done before moving on.

No need for a special light either(even though I own the Rupes torch) just shut all the lights off while inspecting and use one small dedicated light source even the LED on the back of an iPhone works great.

On the new pads, I prime them, then a few small dots around 4, Backing plate is marked, does rotate.....as far as clean micro towels...........I only use new towels .

For cleaning the pads I use that McKees 37 pad polishing spray, also throw them in a bucket of that snappy clean stuff.

I have a halogen work light, maybe that's too strong, I cant see any defects when I got that close to the car.

Rich

Sounds good, thanks!

How are you cleaning the pad between sections?

Yeah well to bad, that's what it takes sometimes everything can't be quick and easy

Not 1 person was recommending sonax before they bought this company. At least it seems that way to me.

The ultimate compound should get rid of it.

Agree 100%

His products will absolutely work.

I also agree with the opinion that what he has will work. The key for me is always to clean effectively with the wipe offs to insure you have removed anything left as "fillers". Fillers could be anything as a result of compounding paint...left over product, carrier oils, spent paint etc. Before I found Car Pro Eraser I used Isopropyl alc/distilled water. It also includes surgically clean mf towels. You say you're using new MF's but wash them once first. From the sound of it, it shouldn't be your towels but make sure. Every.Time.You.Wipe!

Work the UP enough times that you may only be left with compounding haze on your test spot. That may mean a second go at the area using slow arm movements and some exerted pressure and on speed 6. Inspect THOROUGHLY after each attempt.

The second thing MOST important to me is the inspection light. After my test spot(s) I always pull it into the sun for inspection. If I don't have any sun that day I use a good inspection light and at every angle however if you discover scratches days later in the sun...inspect with it after your test spot (if you can).

Like I said initially, I strongly believe you can get that paint the way you want it with what you have to work with. I will also say that 100% may be difficult if not impossible if you have some RIDS or occassional deeper scratches here and there. 90-95% may be achievable with time and careful attention and would probably be 100% better than every other vehicle in your area.

Sonax products have been being discussed and reviewed on this forum for many, many years, well before Vision Investments purchased PBMG. A simple search under Sonax on the forum yielded many threads, here are just a few of them.

Ok guys, thanks for the tips, gonna look into that wipe with alcohol deal..........ok when out today at high noon, took a couple pics with my POS camera.......you can tell my picture taking skill is right up there with my buffing skills. LOL

Now today, I looked at almost every angle on the trunk lid, looked good, but if you can enlarge the one where the sun is shining , I have a few swirls there............really not bad, you have to look good to see.............don"t know why the other day I was seeing them much better.

If you can see these swirls, would you consider these minor???

Also I looked at some flashlight today, not sure what brightness I need, but they had some 500-1300 lumens, what ever those are.

Other thing I was thinking was get a small hood or trunk lid from the junkyard, and let her rip.........I know its not the same, but I rather wreck something like that before I screw up more of my stuff.

Thinking of maybe getting some of that "Car Pro" essence plus.......says it hides swirls, I can live with that.

If you guys have some better ideas on polish..........let her rip.

Can"t thank you guys enough.

Rich

Those swirls/scratches don't look too bad, Rich, and yes, I would call them minor but removable. I would love to see how bad it was before you started anything though!

Hey the Paul-ster..........they really didn"t look much worse than in the pic. LOL........remember the POS camera I have is bad.........I think my problem is I'm expecting too much, the paint does look good, and I'm expecting every swirl or defect/scratches.............needs to be gone............im thinking its not gonna happen. But overall, the paint does look good, so maybe I'm just gonna keep it there for now.

LOL, dude, people here been hyping SONAX for years, people freaked out back in the day over half their stuff. Your join date is 2016, this is way before your time so perhaps you don't know because you weren't here???. Brilliant Shine Detailer has been getting the highest praise here forever!

Probably a good idea, Rich. It does look good! Be proud of yourself and how you got it that good.

Very sweet ride, Rich!! And from the pics, I think you are certainly on the right track. Your methods seem solid.

IMO, you are going to have to experiment a little (as I did) with a few products/pads until you hit the right combo.

Good luck, my brother! :)

Heres a couple better shots of the bomb............

Oh yeah, one of my mechanic. AKA my wife............shes having a little attitude problem lately.....but shes still working on the car.

We put this car together..........the mechanicals no problem...............seems buffing is a major issue. LOL
