Synergy - can it deliver?

great review OP. really enjoyed it. how do you like the sonax paint cleanser?

The Sonax Paint Cleanser is excellent actually since that's all it is - a cleaner. Works better when applied by machine than by hand IME. Also like the P21s Paint Cleanser for the same reason. The Sonax might be a little better but it's tough to judge. I also love Klasse AIO but....because it contains sealant I've gradually moved away from using it since I typically use these products as a decontamination process and not as a LSP. Don't want to introduce any possible bonding issues with my LSP of choice and the sealant in the Klasse.

Great review, very honest! The reflection shots are really amazing, also doesn't hurt that IMO atleast its one of the best looking new cars on the road too!

haha - I completely agree KA, guess we like that P-Car Koolaid. This particular 911 is a real beauty and it was a privilege to be the first one to "show her some love."

Absolutely!

On a sidenote I'm usually not one to like this recent trend where a car continues to grow in dimensions when a new gen comes out but the designers of the 991 really outdid themsleves here! Those optional 20's not only look awesome but add to the proportions of the car! Also I bet they were easy to clean too! I"m particilar about white on cars but on the 991 it really looks stunning! Someone did an F12 here recently and I guess my white car short list isn't as short as it used to be, LOL!. If I had the chance to buy one I'd get white w/ a completely full, red leather interior w/ red seatbelts and gauge faces!

As far as Synergy goes, well, those pics probably sold a "couple" cans too, should use your pics in a sales ad of some kind, really, really great pics!!

Like you KA I really love the fact that Porsche never radically changes the 911. In fact go back to the 358 and the lineage is unmistakable. To me, this is a great thing whereas so many manufacturers run with a design for 5 years and basically start over. And I also agree about the wide body look - a fantastic evolutionary change IMO. The C4S is about 30mm wider still and I love the additional brake light that links both rear tail lights together. Simple yet elegant.

The 20 inch rubber with Carrera rims were a pleasure. OMG you can get the whole large Daytona brush with no problem, even behind the rotors. Have an Adams' Boar Hair Wheel Brush that completely fits into the openings as well. And get this, I was able to get my hands in their with some clay and still have my knuckles.

The white F-car is sensational - saw a 458...white over red that would make your knees buckle. What a gorgeous automobile.

Regardless of the product, its probably the best review I've ever read on this forum. No bias or sales pitch...just a great effort. Kudos to you.

Way cool review....beautiful pics too. I might try the Synergy, however, I am pretty happy with Dodo Juice Supernatural Wax. I did a comparo against Zymol Concours wax and Dodo Juice SN was better It had a better wet look and the beading and sheeting was superior...oh well I digress! Your review has now made me want to buy a can of that stuff!!

Again, incredible review!!

Thanks so much silverfox - sometimes when we do these reviews it's hard not to wave the flag but I felt this product needed an unbiased look. For $20 nobody really cares...for $200 it worth doing your homework. I'm very flattered and thanks again for taking the time to read it all.

Hey Kamakaz now you got me interested in the Supernatural. haha. I tried the Supernatural Hybrid a while back and didn't like it (in fact I hated it) but have been told that the "regular" version is a whole different thing. Do you know if that's true?

Years ago I was really into the Zymol system, when Chuck owned the company and before it was sold to the Turtle Wax folks. I've never tried any of their high end stuff but have only heard good things. Also the Glasur wax made for Porsche gets great reviews and if I recall, Swani is a big fan of that wax. Pretty crazy that the Concours didn't best the DoDo Juice. Amazing but I'm not shocked to hear that.

Always wanted to do a blind test on multiple versions of the same car and see which LSP the judges would select. Think someone did that exact test in Europe and Collinite’s Marque D’Elegance Carnauba Paste Wax won top honors, besting out Swissvax and other super expensive brands. Which is why I truly believe it's more about the user experience than the shine when it comes to these high end products. Hey they all look good and I'm going to strip it off next month anyway because there's something new to try.

Got a little lucky with the light when it came to the photo shoot. Bright late day sun with a beautiful white puffy cloud sky so the sun could create some deep shadows. Guess the detailing gods were looking after me. haha.

Those are some incredible pictures! Now I really know how a review should be written! The 911 has more gloss than my black mustang with Synergy...

addysdaddy

I was actually surprised that Dodo Juice Supernatural was the better wax IMO. I also used Zymols cleaner wax and that sucked so bad I threw the bottle away. It did not even pass-it-to-my-neighbor test. My guess is that the marketing for Zymol is the premium I paid for. Same goes for Swissvax. They are even more!

Well my next venture will be Synergy and give them a go!! Again, great pics and spectacular review!!

I will be trying Chemical Guys Celeste Dettaglio her in the next for a comparison against DSN

I the next AGO sale I will be getting that because of addysdaddy's review and your review too! 281, I know you thought it was awesome too in a different thread.

Additionally, I think PBMG sells some pretty good quality stuff. I use Wolfgang, Pinnacle, Pinnacle Black Label, Blackfire and more.

I have seen other sites product and it is nowhere near AGO's.

Either way Synergy is now top on my list!

:iagree:

Just remember Kamakaz that the same rules apply. Prep, Prep and more Prep - that's where your going to get the shine. What you put into getting the surface swirl free is what you'll get out in terms of gloss. I was fortunate since the 911 was straight from the factory untouched by human hands. Didn't have do anything in terms of polishing.

This is an extra ordinary review and the pictures are amazing. The look of the car is however like coated but then thats what synergy claims in its ingredients too.
Would the car owner let this lsp stay while it lasts to check on its durability ?

Also, in one of my previous conversations with you earlier in the year, you mentioned a recent purchase of AF spirit just then and that it felt like the best thing you've seen on white (leaving its application/removal aside). That however isn't even listed in other 3 lsps of choice you've mentioned and now you have another winner for white :)

Excellent review and outcomes !

Absolutely fantastic review, Stuart! What a beautiful car, too! I hope you got to drive it to where you took those fantastic pictures! I would have you take pics anytime!

I gotta say that it isn't surprising that it seems more like a sealant in look, but nonetheless it's disappointing since I enjoy that warm, wax glow when I opt for a wax. The pool of wetness and gloss are good attributes, though, and of course on white sometimes the warmth struggles to come through. We'll see if you get a chance to put it on that black Panamera how it reacts...

Thanks for taking the time to do it! I hope that the owner is very happy with their new 911. I'd ask if he is happy with the detail but I think we both know that answer... :dblthumb2:

Fantastic looking white. What a shine. :xyxthumbs:

I take it you used the Sonax premium class paint cleaner as the Sonax paint cleaner has Carnauba wax in it. Is that correct?

Again, super job. Congrats.

You have an excellent memory sealthedeal - I do have Spirit and I absolutely love the look, especially on white. But....it's more work to apply & remove than Illusion and as I mentioned here, that's important in my personal grading system. Spirit vs Illusion on just looks, Spirit wins every time. Illusion is probably 85%-90% of the visual effect but 125% easier to remove so pick your poison. If you apply Spirit with a heavy hand (don't ask how I know this) break out the hammer and chisel because the heavy lifting has just begun. With Illusion, it truly doesn't matter - heavy thin, WOWO let it dry for 15-30 minutes is always a pleasure to wipe off.

So when recommending any LSP I always try and keep the overall "experience" in mind since all of these products look fantastic and only under certain conditions would the visual differences become apparent, especially to the average person. And because Illusion is not fussy I can apply it anyway I choose. With Spirit the only way I can get that thin coat is with the Kiss The Paint Method, which is why I applied Synergy with that technique. (I know my limitations). And it's not that it's such a PITA but sometimes I simply don't want to mess with all of that and just want to quickly lay down a coat of wax by hand.

My plan is to get the 911 back and give Spirit a shot, but let's leave the Synergy alone for a while and see how it holds up. The car is his DD so hopefully we'll see how it does and whether it turns into a dust magnet or not. LOL, this is exactly why I don't care about longevity - there is ALWAYS something new to try.
