If you're in Pigeon Forge and head out Wears Valley Road to Townsend, TN, which is the back way to Cades Cove, which is a beautiful drive itself...if you take Wears V. Rd. you'll come to an overpass that leads to nowhere...actually it does but the last time I was there it was still closed...but it leads to an unfinished road up on the mountains to your right if you're headed to Townsend. It's been unfinished for sometime, but in July of 2015 when I was there last I think I remember reading they were getting ready to finish that road and a finished date was mentione, but I don't recall it. I believe it's part of a parkway, scenic drive, or something like that. I believe it starts somewhere in North Carolina and goes a good ways down into Tennessee along another ridge. On a map it appeared to be quite a long drive, high elevation, and curvy. Maybe someone can give me some updated info on that, but I thought I'd share, and perhaps someone else mentioned it. I haven't read this entire thread.
