Okay, those chrome tips that some manufacturers put on the end of exhaust systems, what products cleans the old exhaust pollutants off and brings a nice look to the tailpipe?

#0000 steel wool from wal mart. pack of 16 pieces for like 3 bucks. then get some polish, really doesnt matter which polsh, a chrome, metal, even a spray on wax to use as a lubricant. Dont worry, as long as yuo use #0000 you will not damage the tips, but they will polish out VERY nice!!!!!!

use this method for any tips basically, unless they are painted.

105 and 0000 steel wool will cut faster.

it really dont matter, you may save a couple strokes that way. plus thats some expensive stuff to use for that.

something in a spray bottle is the easiest, b/c you dont have to stop to apply more. It will only take a few minutes to polish each tip. i did my sisters acadia tips, 4 tips total. did them all in about 5 minutes. I have done some BAD motorcycles where all the chrome on the harley had to be steel wooled, some cheap bike polish and steel wool and it was all polished in an hour, then finished up with some good stuff, but the cheap stuff is good anough for the steel wool. i use it daily at the bike shop i work at on these stupid harleys that come in all pitted. ive used everything from different spray on wax/polishes, to different compounds, none were better or faster to me.

How about Megs Ultimate Compound?

Also, what's a safe time to wait after the engine has been running to be playing with the exhaust tips?

why not just wait til they have cooled down?

quad zero steel wool is indeed the best results for all tailpipes. Use with the metal polish designed for the tip type. (chrome with chome)

Thanks guys. The 0000 steel wool worked on parts but couldn't cut through all of it so I added a little 105 and it came out looking great.
