Howdy. Stationed in Hawaii where I bought my 2010 Challenger R/T in January 2011 brand new. Drove it for 8 months, covered for 12, and on the road again the last 8. Still under 20k on the odometer.

Hawaii's frequent rain storms and spurts, and the red dirt are always a challenge. I have always done a 2-bucket wash, and used Mother's stuff including the clay and cleaner wax. Upgraded to Chemical Guys stuff late last year, but I am only happy with a few of their products.

Time to take my detailing skills up a couple notches, and do it the right way. First, I have to prevent swirls and scratches. Second, I want to remove the fine scratches and swirls my paint has. Third, there's a few tiny rock chips that I'd like to eventually take care of instead of having a whole panel repainted.

I'm looking forward to all I can learn on this forum.

Welcome and thank you for your service brother!!!!

Looks like you are interested in doing a paint correction, touch-up , and coating.

There are plenty of thread on the forum that cover each topic.

If you are new to polishing may I recommend the Meguiar's Microfiber Correction System. I have used the 5 inch kit with great results and it truly is a revolutionary system for rookies and veterans alike.

For touch-up, I would try to get paint from the manufacture. If it is mostly road rash I like the Dr. ColorChip system.

Perhaps the Langka kit may be helpful as well for chips

LANGKA Complete Paint Chip Repair Kit: Repair scratches on your car without a professional paint job! touch-up paint, scratch repair kit, chip repair,

For a protective coating you can't beat the Opti-Coat system. Goes on clear and leaves a beautiful finish and long lasting protection from rain and red dust!

Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 Permanent Paint Coating

Good luck and enjoy reading thru the forum. Great people here to help you take on any project!

If you are on O'ahu, you should look up "PakShak" in Sand Island. Ranney and Ron are awesome. They will help you for sure and also have machines to rent. I am also on Oahu, and can provide help if you need it. Just PM me for info.

Thank you for your service and welcome from another new guy!

I tried the Langka kit for a couple chips and found better results with using factory paint touch up and 2000 / 2500 grit wet sanding. Be very careful and only use a couple of passes before checking your work. The touchup paint will be much softer than the surrounding factory paint so it doesn't take much to knock off the top.

Have a great day!
