Talk to me about XMT1

I apologize for veering off topic, but how does XMT2 work with a polishing pad? As far as removing light webbing and some fine scratches.

I use XMT 2 with Green or Orange Edge pad all the time depending on need.

I find that when using the XMT line, it heavily depends on what pad you use it with. XMT2 on green pad is like a different polish than using it on an orange pad.

I used XMT2 with a polishing pad and liked the results. It got rid of the light swirls and left the paint squeaky clean- and no dusting. I was so excited with that so I tried XMT1 the next day and was disappointed. I can see using a more agressive pad would bust out some heavier swirls but with a polishing pad it still did a good job.

LOL @ Lauren :applause: Nice song

QUESTION im now kinda disapointed for the fact i just bought 1 2 and 3 XMT and tryed it. never took out swirls or scratches i feel i am using the polishes correctly and im kinda mad that i wasted the money so the question, is XMT pointless to buy if you are trying to get rid of scratches and swirls and if so what polish should i use.

XMT 3 and 2 are definately going to take swirls and scratches out. XMT 3 and a yellow pad will take all of the swirls out and most of the heavier scratches.

i have 1 2 & 3 and i use the #2 alot. #3 was leaving micro maring. #2 left the paint with a haze so #1 was used and now the paint looks like glass. i use the #3 on the trailblazer ss because it has a hard clearcoat followed by#1 and WOW the black pop's. the dusting lets me know to change the pad (i have plenty)

I'm kinda in the same boat. Bought XMT4 too and that didnt work as hoped.

There is some hope though I guess. I went over my hood with #3 and green e2k pad and got about 60% of the light scratches out. Seems like you have to work it in for a LONG time though. In the future I'll be trying something different. Maybe Optimum compound.:(

Maybe I'm be unrealistic, am I asking too much to have all of the swirls/scratch out? Or are these products used just to reduce some only?

If you don't like a long work time then I wouldn't suggest OC. It takes time with the PC to remove swirls. Do you have any before pictures of the car?

Really your disapointed with XMT #4? I don't know I used it and got great results with not just XMT #4 but the entire line up. I did my volvo and it removed 95% if not more of the swirls it had. I'm curious, how long did you use it with the PC?

I did find that using the PC it took about 6min to break down per panel (XMT #3 that is). Using the rotary XMT breaks down faster...but I too would would really like to try Optimum. I'm looking forward to the long working time, specially with the rotary.

Well that's just my $0.02

I got a sample as well.. SSR3 feels a bit more aggressive in hand, more like sandpaper.. #4 had this feel as well, but SSR3 more..

You guys are special.

Special to me, too. :-)
