Technique for applying and removing polish , wax and AIO by hand

Do I apply these products in circular motions ?
Removing with microfiber cloth just back and forth??
 
I typically follow the directions on the container for application, sometimes it will tell you circular or back and forth. For removal, I typically go back and forth, but I spray a quick detail before I wipe just incase it is difficult to remove. This process works for me and I don't see any scratches afterwards. Hope this helps!
