Honestly, I'll cut down my own from a Mirka BP or something from Kevin Brown if HF doesn't have anything. I may have to message Richard Lin or Kevin Brown. I'm sure both could help. I've seen Richard using a TA50 or maybe it was an LD30, with a 1" BP. I know he must have cut that himself.

I don't get worried about what people are saying on the HF website.
I've got the tool in my hand and it works for me. Heck, at the very least, for $25, it showed me what I had been missing in my arsenal. I can not live without a 2" polisher now. If this things proves to not be very durable I'll go with the TA50.

So far, I'm loving it.

I'm loving your review and I will most likely buy one! The reviews on the HF are all great, just the BP issue.. So I'm wondering about that.

I've had Griots polisher just like that for years. Gave up on trying to make my own 2" pads out of bigger ones and put a 3" packing plate on it. I use it all the time, but it is a CFM hog. Really makes working around light and vent openings on the front bumper so much easier. I cut in with that machine and then use the more powerful PC to do the bigger areas.
 
a little birdie says that the 2" microfiber cutting discs / 3 grades of 2" foam pads are available now...
 
Saw a one of these down at Meguiar's yesterday

Mike Stoops has added a Rupes in-line regulator so the speed control can be adjusted without having to feather the trigger.

He is running 3" pads and using it mostly to sand headlights.
 
i got my 2 inch pads from Buffdaddy.com. The 2" selection is not working on the site yet, but i e-mail them and they sent me a link to order them. i really like the 2 inch for doing door jams.
 
After reading your review, I decided to take a chance and purchase this small polisher. I was also eyeing the TA50, but at $300 I just can't put that kind of money into something that isn't an absolute NEED (I detail part time). I know Harbor Freight tools aren't known for their quality, but like you said if it lasts a year I will be happy.

Are you still using it trouble free? Are you able to do some correction with it? Thanks for your review!
 
Nice! I just picked one up and ordered some 2" HydroTech pads. Also cut down an old MFCP that was completely worn in the middle.. made it into 3 x 2" pads. I'm excited to try it out. :buffing:

If you pay $10 for the 1 year replacement warranty you won't have to worry about it.
 
So I just made a nice little order on Buff Daddies website. Along with picking up some 2" foam pads, I also picked up some 3" foam backed sanding discs (no 2" sanding discs are made to my knowledge). Could I use a Mirka 3" soft-faced interface pad on the 2" backing plate that comes with the Harbor Freight 2" polisher? I'm wanting to use this polisher with sanding discs for spot correction and headlight restoration.
 
^ it's pretty awesome that KB offers exact-fit DA backing plates too. he does such a good job making them that you could never tell that they were even cut and sanded down and look straight from the factory...
