It's illegal here in b.c.
I didn't realize how dangerous it was until they passed that law either. I used to do it thinking nothing of it then when it became illegal it really opened my eyes

I don't text and drive

1) I don't want to hurt somebody
2) get pulled over and get a ticket
3) crash my sweet ride

I do have bluetooth however so when my phone rings, it rings in the car speakers and I just press a button on the stereo and say "Hello" , but even there i still say, "let me call you back I am driving" they always say "sounds good talk to you later, bye"

In PA it is illegal to read or text on a cell phone.

Glad that they got what they deserved. People just don't seem to understand that a car truly is a 2 ton weapon, and it has to be operated carefully

PA is definitely pretty strict, but I'm all in favor of it. I don't even like to talk on the phone while I drive...can't really since three of the four cars require me to shift.

To me it's just too dangerous and not worth the risk.

It's like all the 'phone talking'...I live in a town of barely 10K folks...who the hell are they talking to? We're only about 5miles by 5 miles square!

My brother-in-law carries his fone religiously (no biggie), but when that sucker goes off, he's like Matt Dillon drawing down on the bad guys. This is when he is DRIVING! His comment, "It may be important!" At his (and my age), the only thing that may be important is someone died, and you'll see that in the local fish wrap in the morning.

I came up to and stopped at a red light a couple of years ago. Sitting to my left in the left-turn lane was a county sheriff, with his head down texting on his cell phone. I thought about rolling my window down and saying something.

Then I remembered something my father said to me many many many years ago. He said, "Don't trouble trouble 'till trouble troubles you."

A wise man; my father. I sure miss him.

Somewhat off topic but this story reminded me of JHodges post.

I had a friend coming out from a bar at 1:00AM and got pulled over by the police. So the officer comes to the car. And as soon as he walks up to the car, some car drives by (probably going fast)

Well his music was super super loud and he was blasting F The Police song,

The cop told my friend to have a good night and let him go and went off and chases the guy down lol

I've seen that from police in my area too, and it's illegal in the entire state.

We've had a couple horrific accidents involving 18-wheelers plowing into cars stopped on the interstate due to traffic and the big-rig never hit it's brakes. The drivers were texting at the time.

I text. It's a handy form of communication, but once I'm in my car the phone goes in the console and doesn't come out again until I'm stopped. I've got built-in bluetooth if I need to make/take a call. I won't even dictate a text while underway.

Maybe it's just me, but when talking to the 'younguns', I notice they won't/can't look you in the face. They seem to be so use to looking down that looking up is a physical impossibility.
