This may seem a little odd, but it's been a rough last couple months and the most challenging project I've worked on yet but let me explain...

I am an engineer working in the auto industry for an OE exhaust supplier, I went into this business because of my passion for cars of all kinds. It comes from growing up in the Detroit area and having strong family ties to the industry. It often bothers me when I hear people refer to any automobile as "a mode of transportation." It is too often forgotten what goes into making cars. People forget that the development and production of a single model involves many teams of people that spend on average 2-3 years of their lives working on a single vehicle. I can't speak for other people, but I care very much about what I do and always look for the vehicle to be well received, so it bothers me when it is dismissed as just another object. I've worked in this industry for 6 years and have 3 vehicles that I can take some credit in with a 4th launching in the next couple months, and everytime I see a CLEAN AND CARED for one on the road it reminds a little bit of why I made the choices I did.

I read a great article that Mike posted on here about the right attitude of that a detailer should have of adopting a car as their own while working on and would like to add to that that it's not just the owners, but the unspoken legacy of all the engineers, designers and other people that worked on that project. So thank you to all the hobbyists out there that care enough to put the effort into keeping their cars looking like the piece of artwork they are, and to all of you pros out there that share the same passion us engineers have but use it in a different way.

I was wondering the same thing Mike. What models were you involved with the new launch of?

Thanks guys, I guess I should've anticipated that question. I came in at the tail end of the 2008 Cadillac CTS launch and was actually the lead for the 2009 V-Series (Sedan and coupe). Shortly after that launched, our team won the business for the Chevy Volt and I took that from development to its launch at the end of 2010. I've spent the time since then working on the new Dodge Dart that was unveiled at this years auto show.

There's little doubt that everyone here considers their vehicle to be much more than basic transportation be it a garage queen or daily driver. Most if not everyone here worked or works for a living and many of the cars or trucks we drive are en extension of who we are. :dblthumb2:
