I have been into cars for almost 60 years. Started out doing Simoniz paste wax. I have worked (part-time) in detail shops, and paint and body shops. After retiring from the military I managed a large detail shop, went to school on how to detail properly. I am from Lynchburg Va originally, but have been in Jacksonville, FL since 1977. Look forward to swapping tips.

I did 7 years in the Marines, got out for 22 months, and then joined the Navy. I left the Corps as SSGT/selectee and joined the Navy as an E-3. Ended with 24 years-no regrets.

believe it or not-Uncle Jimmy Carter had gotten 2 of the largest pay raises done while I was out. So, as an E-3-I was making MORE $$$.

I was a GMG for just over 2 years, then I made MA1-then MAC. And I don't consider your questions as being nosey Bill, thanks for asking the questions.

Took me a bit to remember that 'you guys' have an actual MAA rate.

We just 'select and direct' for who was the ships MAA. Great being 'MA' in port...every night and weekend off. But underway, made for some really long days.
