The $500 Mobile Detailing Startup - A Simple Walk Through

Thanks Mark for the write up. I am planning to start one and I came across this at the right time.

Not gonna happen unless you want to take a 5 hour side drive! I live in the southern part of Illinois about 40 minutes from Kentucky.

I appreciate the sentiment though, glad you enjoyed the article!

I've been lurking this site for months now looking for good advise on starting up. Thanks the post.

Great rundown on starting a detailing business on the cheap. I already see some things i need to buy!

This is a great write up. I am starting out very soon hopefully and I have a question. What to by first? Should I go with what you listed and get a pressure washer and generator, or should I go with what you listed then build up to washer and generator?

Well, a generator and pressure washer isn't going to do you much good without the other chemicals and supplies you will need.

Do you really need a pressure washer and a generator? The pressure washer is really more of a luxury item when starting out than a need, and most clients are more than happy letting you use their power.

Ok thanks for the reply. Only thing is the market here for mobile is more geared towards parking lots. Hard to get power out there. Do you think a 275 gallon tank will gravity feed a hose with enough psi to work one of the foam cannons?

Awesome write up!!! That was very thoughtful to the new detailer
Thank you :)

Great article! Ive been detailing as a hobby and the only reason I have shied away from starting a detailing business was I thought I had to have a bunch of money that i don't have. Great info definitely got me thinking had about turning it from hobby to business.

wow this actually brought me to autogeek forum and also purchasing most of the products here what good information thank you!!!

You should be flat our embarrassed shilling your services like that on a thread like this. Talk about shameless marketing.

Edit: hopefully you do not get this extremely helpful thread for thousands of people locked. I get emails from all around the world about this thread.

Wow! Amazing write up Mark!

Don't think I ever saw this thumbing through the forums over the years. You can't go wrong with anything you listed, though prices may have changes over the years. For some stuff, like the polisher, once you upgrade the old one will still be a great backup or for when you're polishing and don't want to switch back and forth with pads.

You deserve all the credit and praise for this great write up!

Dan

Awesome write up...if I was a bit younger I certainly would have gone in this direction...thanks for posting :)
