The ability of microfiber pads! Before Pics. Afters coming soon!

Hey guys. I finished the truck about 30 minutes ago. I'm leaving for the weekend, but will have pics up Monday. Stay tuned!

After Pics:

I ended up using a 6" microfiber Cutting disc to speed up the process a little. I used m100 on a cutting disc and d151 on a white flat lc pad. No wipe in between steps.

I actually tried the d300/d301 combo on a a couple panels just for the heck of it. For whatever reason, I enjoy using the d300/301 combo better. . . The 300 has a slightly longer working time than the m100 and I like the smell better haha. I think it has a very slight cutting edge of the 100. . .probably mostly due to the longer working time.

D301 also wipes off ever so slightly easier than d151...although both products, when not used incorrectly (too much product) wipe off absurdly easy.

M100 diminishes very quickly but does cut very hard for about 2-3 section passes. After that you're not doing much except spreading around product. . .literally, it completely looses all cutting ability.

All that said. I was able to get excellent results (about 80% correction) in an insanely short amount of time with both processes. I finished virtually swirl free with only the deeper random isolated scratches remaining. There were some very deep random scratches on the doors from brush or trees.

Here's the afters (sorry, forgot to shut off my overhead lights in the afters so the lighting conditions are slightly different):

For those of you interested, the wheels were giving me trouble so I busted out the Scholl Concepts Rim 7, and got excellent results.

On hard paint, MF pads can also finish down amazingly well. If you clean the pad after each panel with compressed air, and use very slow rotation (just enough to rotate) you can achieve amazing results not only for cutting, but finishing as well. On my own Camaro hard paint, I don't use foam pads anymore for polishing.

I purchased the MF system and have yet to try it. I have the 5" pads, cutting compound and finishing wax. Do you have any advice? Speed? Pad prep?

Keep Calm & Chive On

^^ What this guy said!! I ordered 2 cutting and 2 polishing pads so I am wondering after you cut with them do you HAVE to polish with one or can you switch out to white foam and polish? I get the feelling if you cut with one, then polish with one your going to need to polish with a foam due to the polish pad having some cut?

Not usually. MF pads finish extremely well on most clears. On a soft black paint you might have to whip out foam but not likely.

Sweet, so cut and polish then LSP? Trying to get the hang, thanks again!

IMO there is no exception to using compressed air. A brush can be used along with air, but not alone.

On a side not. I do not wash these pads in the washing machine. I spray them out with a spray nozzle on my hose and use a brush if needed.

I then extract the excess moisture out with my extractor.

:iagree: I've come to the same conclusion. If I didn't have compressed air, I would still be using a rotary. All the extra time involved in maintaining these pads without compressed air kind of defeats the time savings of having them in the first place.

When used with M-105 or M-205 only, mine never get washed. They simply are blown clean with compressed air and put away for next time. If I use something like D-151 on them or HD Speed then they'll get washed once they get gummed up with product. This usually isn't an issue with HD Speed but is every time with D-151.:nomore:

^On lighter colored vehicles or vehicles with hard clear, you may be able to get away without following up with a finishing step, however for the majority of cars I would highly recommend following up with a finishing polish.
