The Belt, best detailing belt, detailing tools, easy detailing tools

I was one of the lucky winners of the great BELT giveaway! This is my review:

The BELT arrived just in time as I had this Range Rover, http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/show-n-shine/104202-2006-range-rover-java-black.html , scheduled to come in. Perfect!!

I chose to set my BELT up the way that Mike P did with his. If I figure out a better way, I will change it, but it is good to go with this setup.

It's a very well made setup. Quality material(s) and stitching. It is also soft and feels good in the hands. I also felt that the risk of marring the paint with it was negligible and thus, I hung it on the recently corrected passenger mirror! No marring in sight after I removed it! LOL

Now, I typically do not use anything of the sorts like this when I detail. Just a t-shirt to cover my sizzle chest, a pair of shorts and some comfy sneakers.

It took a little getting used to, because it 'messes' with your system that you are used to, but I found it nice to have my compound/polish/LSP, a MF towel or two, and anything else you need, handy around your waist.

I don't know if I'm sold as of yet...I have another car coming in tomorrow and will use it again and see how I feel about it tomorrow!!

Stay tuned for additional comments/etc!

See ya around...with my fancy blue BELT around my waist!

And don't forget all your shoes and glasses!!

I love my The Belt! I put it together without seeing Mike's, so I winged it. I keep the iPhone pouch towards the back right, since I like to keep my iPhone in my back right pocket.
It's great because normally I wear cargo shorts to pack all the MF's and such into the cargo pockets, but now I can wear comfy Champion Basket Ball style shorts... (no pockets - elastic waist) and of course my styling blue Champion Breathable LSN Autodetailing shirts! Small logo on front left and large logo on the back. :-)

I like the idea of the belt because I can have my iPhone (tunes) and a few MF's in the pouch, loop the cord and put a spray or squeeze bottle of product in another pouch. If I try to add too much stuff it can get weighted. But it does free up a having to wear cargo shorts which I like!

It will come in handy in the winter too, so I won't have to wear cargo shorts when it's 16 degrees outside! :-) (kidding..)

For sure! You don't want all of your shoes and glasses falling off! LOL

In regards to your winter comment...I don't have to worry about that! Hahaha

I think it's great, but 60.00 I can do without one.maybe 29.95 would be mass sales.makes you look professional as well.I can use that on rv and planes.I hate even having keys in my pockets or a wallet.so that for me I would have to get use to it.

Good idea. Not sure it's for me though, seems like i'd keep bumping car with it.

I've had mine for just over a month... I haven't posted anything about it because I feel like I need to give it a complete and fair shot before I give my final opinion about it. Meaning I need to use it for what I intended it for, and that's polishing jobs.

During the time I've had it so far I've legit used it once. [during the time I detailed an RV and had to take 2 bottles of APC with me up to the roof. It worked great for that task, but truth be told, as soon as I came down the ladder the belt came off for the rest of the detail job..

Other than that I tried lugging around with it while doing a waterless wash on my car but honestly it's somewhat of a hassle to put your 32oz. spray bottle in/out/in/out of the pocket over and over again [because the pockets sag].. For me and my car, it's actually much faster and easier to just put my bottle on top of my roof [since it's a fabric top] But either ways, it's sort of restricting to wear this belt.

And something that no one has ever mentioned about this belt is how it becomes uncomfortable to bend directly down to pick something up off the ground in front of you if the buckle is in its normal position. It really seems like the best place for the buckle would have to be on your backside in order to not get in the way. [which isn't ideal, because who buckles their belt on their back] I'm surprised no one has ever brought that up in their reviews.

But like I said, I'm saving my final call until I put it through its intended job, and that's when I need it for a polishing job. Most of these drawbacks I had already expected based on common sense.. Not to mention, I pretty much knew I wouldn't wear it under normal circumstances based on the fact that you Never see anyone wearing 1 of these belts in any real world pictures of them detailing. Never. I noticed that a long time ago and I can smell that sort of hint a mile away.. Great reviews, but how come no one ever wears it?😏lol.
I don't really care though, if it comes through when I need it during a buffing session, I'll be cool with it.

My 2 cents so far..

I think it good for ladder work like planes and big rv vehicles. But like eldorado said you have to get used to it.for me I like to be as comfortable when detailing with no restrictions what's so ever.So it deos serve a purpose on different vehicles, but I can't see wearing that doing cars and bending up and down frequently. And needs to be a little cheaper in price.

Nice review bud, for me tho the belt is not needed... I'm happy with my cart, everything I need is placed on the cart right next to me so if I need something I just turn around and grab is or can place something on it like my polishers I can have all 3 of them hanging right there ready for use at any giving moment. The belt seems like it will be brushing up against the vehicle potentially placing scratches into my customers vehicle which is not very good in our line of work. In sure many Detailers will agree with me when I say I'll stick with my detailing cart as my supplies/tools holder.

Hey looks cool tho!

Great review.

But I personally will never buy or wear a belt when detailing a vehicle. When you have to lean over the front hood, roof etc how can all this stuff hanging off of a belt not be banging off of the vehicles paint? We worry about putting the chord of our polishers over our shoulders so they don't rub on the paint and we're going to wear a "detailing belt"? NOT ME. So for me, no way will I ever wear a "detailing" belt with pounds of bottles and other stuff hanging off me. It's counter to everything I know about working around cars and paint.

I've used it a couple more times since the last Range was in. Additional thoughts:

I guess the saying you can't teach an old dog new tricks applies to me! LOL. I just can't get used to it. I have my 'system' and my places for my chemicals/etc that I adhere to on every detail. The Belt is messing up my system! I can see it for a high production shop or for someone who is mobile, but I work out of my shop/garage and I'm good like that without it.

Again, thanks for the opportunity to try this out Nick!!!

***If anyone is interested in trying THE BELT out, I will gladly mail it out to you if you would foot the postage! (and if it's not for you, please do the same as I am--offer it to someone else to try!)***
