The drive home with the Benz, an hour drive:dblthumb2:

This is a true German built sports car, you can feel the power of that German engine, I could tell it was nothing like I ever drove before.
It's very low to the ground, sort of like the Vette, takes a little time to get comfy but once I got in there and put my hands around the real wooden steering wheel I knew I was in for a fun drive.
The ride is on the "stiff " side which is needed for all that power, it's suspension is so sweet, OMG I love it:)
Benz e550 has some nice features to the interior , the leather is so pretty to look at, feels good sitting on the rich looking seats.

The Paint.......

It's not really dirty but here's what I found out during my inspection when I got home.

It's was dusty so I did a Rinseless wash on half of the hood, it was hard just to move my towel, so rough, hard to dry, etc.
I'm telling you it feels like sandpaper , this car has zero protection on it, I could tell it was only washed with a dish soap being the paint is so dry, if I only washed it and no type of correction I'd have a hard time applying any type of wax, just to rough.
It will take an hour just to clay it but I'll make sure it's done perfect, there would be no way to get a good shine without claying on this car even with buffing it, sure it would make a difference but I wouldn't be happy with the results.

There's a few scratches, one on the door above the glass , a few on the hood, some water spots due to having no protection.
Swirls but not too bad but I could see them, hope there's sun to show you guys what I saw.
The wheels are so pretty even though they're really dirty, the tires or low profile so not much of a wall to them so not a lot of product will be needed.

Random pictures.

The seals are dry and faded.
I'll use the Wolfgang Trim Sealant to make them to look new again:dblthumb2:

One of the scratches , they bought the car used and Pam who owns the car said it bothered her after she saw it after buying it, I think I can get it out:)

So you can see what I'm up against:)
Can't wait to get started here in the next hour or two.

My plan of action.....

Wash using Chemical Guys Maxi-Suds
Meguiar's All Wheel & Tire Cleaner
Clay
Buff it out using my DeWalt 849x using the Uber hopefully along with my double sided wool pad.
Polish using my DA using Meguiar's 205 Ultra Fine Polish
Seal with Wolfgang Paint Sealant
After it cures I'll apply more protection using Duragloss AW 951.
Protect the wheels, again with the Wolfgang Paint Sealant and the AW 951.
Coat the tires with a new coating , tell you later what it is:)

Interior.

I'll clean the interior using Griot's Interior Cleaner.
Protect the leather using Howard's Leather Conditioner

I'll post some after pictures:dblthumb2:

This will be my last detail until I heal from my surgery which is next week, I want to enjoy this one:)

Later guys,

Kevin

Looks like your gonna have some extra fun good luck and don't work so hard

I'll take breaks often, not going to rush, no sense in causing more pain which would prevent the "Fun":dblthumb2:

Did you just buy it? If so nice choice, those are great cars and such a good deal used!

I can't wait to see the results Kevin. I hope everything goes well with your surgery.

It's for a customer but yes a very nice car.
Handles like a dream.

I'm just done with washing it, break then clay time:)

Thanks Craig:)

You know what makes no sense to me?
I can detail a car for an entire weekend like I'll be doing on this car but I can't go to a mall because walking causes so much pain.

My wife is so great, she brings everything I need near the car to keep from having to walk then she saves everything for me.
I'm a lucky man:dblthumb2:

I have a good friend that owns one. They are amazing cars, and the power surprised me. I think it had around 385 hp from the factory. Here's a pic after I did a quick clay and waxed with collinite 915.

Nice:dblthumb2:

Looks like the same color as the one I'm working on

So any up dates? Haha no rush. I need to do mine and it has the same paint as the one your working on. Like to see what combo work best for you on it

Finishing touches then I'll take some pictures. :dblthumb2:
I'd bet yours isn't what this one looked like, what a mess it was but sure looks good now:dblthumb2:

Cajun Detailing by Kevin

I have worked on a few S500s, S550s and even the SL550. Those are absolute beautiful cars.

All done with the Benz.....

I must admit it was a pleasure working on this car, it's not everyday I get to work on a high end car , I consider this to be one.

Here's the issues I discovered after the inspection.

Oxidaztion.
Deep water spots.
Paint was really rough.
Some light scratches that didn't really pickup on camera.
Clear coat was super dry, no protection whatsoever.
Wheels were very dirty , baked on break dust.

Here's what I used to get it corrected.

Washed with Maxi-Suds with a litte APC
Clayed
Rotary with my wool pad along with Wolfgang Uber and 105 but mostly Uber
Step two I used Meguiar's 205 Ultra Fine Polish along with my DAa and 5.5" Lake Country Flat Pads.
Rinseless wash using DP RW
Applied a coat of DP a Glossy Paint Sealant
After curing I used my new Duragloss Aquawax for added protection and shine, man it left the paint so darn slick.
Coated the the tires with the New Turtle Wax Jet Black Tire Coating comes with a tire cleaner, the stuff looked awesome on the tires.
Polished the wheels with the 205 with my rotary and a 4" Lake Country pad then sealed them with the AW.
Cleaned all glass and sealed with AW

Interior.....

Cleaned all leather, plastics using Griots Interior Cleaner
Cleaned carpets using Folex
Used Howard's Leather Conditnor
Sprayed door jambs using AW

Sorry about the pictures, I didn't get the shots that I wanted, the sun was not out but it is what it is as they say.

Few side by sides

Yes it was a fun detail.
Reason being it was so bad so my effort made a big difference.
Night and day changes:)

It came out great!

How many hours did you have in the paint polishing?

Turned out great. Wish the sun was out to see that gloss.
The paint was on the harder side, correct?
