I have been developing my invention for about 6 months now and finally I have filed for a patent. My invention finally has “patent pending” status! I am extremely excited about my new adventure in the world of marketing a product. The website is currently in the works and I have found a connection that can mass produce the product.

Without further ado, I present to you… Tuck Away Tunes!

This is my answer to the dangers of wearing headphones when you are riding a bicycle, running, or doing any other outdoor physical activity where you will be around any type of traffic or unsafe environment. My invention allows you to safely listen to audio and still be completely aware of your surroundings. There are many angles I will reach out to with this product, but it was specially developed so that I would have a way to listen to music while out on long distance cycling trips.

What is it?

An upper body garment with an integrated, yet removable wiring system on the interior of the garment, with two (2) removable speakers tucked in pockets, one on each shoulder, with a water resistant pocket on the front of the garment on either side to house a portable audio device.

There will be several variations of Tuck Away Tunes, but the first will be a high quality moisture wicking t-shirt to test out the market. If demand is good on the t-shirt there will be a cycling jersey in the works. Following that we will release a wind breaking jacket. In addition to manufacturing and selling our own garments we will also offer for you to ship your garments to us for us to sew in the speaker system wiring harness and water resistant pocket. You will eventually be able to purchase your choice of a number of different color garments, but initially we will offer the “kit” (shirt and speaker system) in one color. At this point I am leaning towards Hi Visibility Yellow. Since this is a new product I am looking for your input. Feel free to comment or ask questions.

Thank you for reading. Stay tuned for updates. The website www.TuckAwayTunes.com will be up and running very soon.

Sounds pretty cool good luck and keep us informed:dblthumb2:

It does sound cool, I usually put my phone on loudspeaker in my hat when detailing, doing yard work, snowboarding etc. I'm in the market for tuck away tunes. Is the moisture wicking tee for casual wear, not form fitting, like a plain white tee?

Yeah, how do you have a "big reveal" with out :Picture:

Settle down young Grasshopper, lol. Pics are soon to come. All I have now are a few prototypes that do not match and look a little wierd. I have a meeting with my seamstress later this week and she will put together a good model for pictures. I will post pictures as soon as I have something that looks good enough to sell.

Pretty cool. I ride road and MTB bikes a lot. I'm very hesitant to ride on the rode with tunes but when I'm solo, I usually take the Ipod and put one headphone in the outer ear just to keep me going. This jersey sounds like the perfect low profile fix to riding with tunes.

Congratulations!

It's always inspiring to see someone come up with an idea and then pursue it though to success.

Can't wait till the day you're taking us all on a Cruise Ship to celebrate the Million Dollar Milestone!

:dblthumb2:

I would be interested as well. I like to listen to my MP3's while I detail, mow, etc., but I don't like not being able to hear other noises - especially while machine polishing. I like to listen to the machine to keep it rotating at the same RPM, etc.

Great idea - and best of luck with it!

I very rarely bike alone (for a long ride), and when I do, I never listen to anything so that I can be aware of what's around. But that's just me.

Very cool. I just took out my road bike Sunday for a nice long ride and was wishing I had a method of listening to music. Can't wait to see this thing!

Same here. I have a road bike and I always have my ipod with me while I ride even if I know it's not super safe.

Thank you all for the positivity!

I am very excited to get this thing rolling!

I have a prototype, but its not very purdy, lol. I will post some pics as soon as possible.

I am trying to have a working prototype with me at Detailfest.

Congratulations Garry! It sounds like an excellent idea! :props:

One thing I've learned in the patent world is that patents are only as good as you're willing to go after/persue/police (i.e. litigate against). So watch your back because there may be those who will imitate and copy your designs.

You can bet I have my eyes and ears open! Thats the point of patents in the first place, to make sure no one steals my idea.

Oh man I could definitely put something like this to use! Right now I have speakers in both my helmets, use my earpods for my open face helmets on on my bicycles, and really hate having those phones in my ears, but really love riding with music. It makes a world of difference in enjoyment IMO (and yes, I ride very safe). Please keep us posted!

Congrats on the Patent and the new product. Best of success to you!

Thank you all so very much for the kind words! I am working very hard to detail full time (actually, more than that) and also get this up and running. Things are comming along slowly, but surely.

I will keep you posted!

At this point, I have done more testing, been to several meetings, and have a positive attitude for the weeks ahead.

Things are moving along, slowly, but surely!

I have a company that is engineering speakers for this specific application. This is very exciting as the speakers for this product will not be just some random speakers stuck in to make due, but speakers specifically designed for this application.

I had a looooong meeting yesterday with a company that will be doing all of the harness integration. Having them do the work seems very promising,

I will keep you all up to date as I receive information.

Thanks for looking.
