Okay....I finished up this 740i (2001 with 90,000 miles) this morning with a coat of Meg's #26 applied with the Festool. Looked very nice and I pulled it outside to do the interior. While doing the interior, I noticed the 26 was a little smeary, so I pulled the car back in the shop (thank goodness the shop is air conditioned!) and decided....what the heck....let's throw a coat of Pinnacle's Finest Wine .... Souveran.

I've done a lot of black cars, but this one really is probably the deepest black I've ever seen. The pics came out nice, but it really shows in person.

Here's what I started with:

Here's the glory shots! This car will probably sell pretty fast. It looks as close to new as possible. I still have chips to fill on the hood for completion.

And, my biggest critic for black: Da Sun!

You know...I hate starting on black Bimmers, but the ending is very satisfying. It seems like you are working that paint forever...but when that Souveran hit...I was a happy camper.

The dealer will see the car in the morning.

Great work on the BMW. Souveran on black is sick. What process do you use to fill the stone chips? THanks.

I love this picture. Looks so professional. Fantastic job Toto, I always look forward to your BMW details.

Just curious, what camera do you use?

wow....that came out great....i saw where you fixed the doorhandles and lets just say this car is definately as close to new as its gunna get

ill post up some pics of mine hopefully tomorrow or tuesday ... tomorrow i start my Jet black 328i

cullen: I'll use color matched touch up paint, hardener, and an edged squeege to fill. Then a solution to remove excess around the chip.

SiliconX: Thanks for the compliment, but I'm a pretty bad photographer. For some reason, I used a mini-tripod and balanced it on the trunk of a 545i and didn't straighten out the camera...luck of the Irish I guess. The camera is a Nikon CoolPix L1.

Very nice finish Master Toto, the vehicle looks incredable. What did you think of Souveran? Just wondering that's all.

That black looks an inch thick! Sweet!

Toto, I've got to touch up my wifes Accord and she got some original Honda touch up paint to match (the little stick) and I was wondering what process I should use to touch it up? I've never done touch up work before and want to surprise her. Thanks for any help!

Bimmer looks fantastic, as usual:)

Nica: Souveran is super nice on cars like the black Bimmer. Easy to apply and remove and adds a lot of depth to the finish.

Dengood1: I use a 3M rubber edge tool that is beveled on one side and apply a blob of touch up to the area, then "squeege" the touch up to level it with the original finish. The trick is to use a mixture of linseed oil and thinner with a paper towel folded on the squeege to remove the smears left while keeping the touchup in the chip hole. It is time consuming and takes practice to get it right. Unfortunately, I'm not very good at this process while the dealer is. That guy can make chips disappear! But, I'll keep working at it until I get it.

I got a job offer from another detailer the other day but would you care to take that job?

Outstanding!

Toto deserves the commision on this unit ...obviously its price just went up !

Man you do great work. Maybe time to talk the boss into Souveran vs. #26.

There are many that do outstanding work. Toto though you probably are my favorite to see the before and afters. Always outstanding work and BMW's overall are my favorite cars to see and work with.

Absolutely awesome! A thing of beauty - totally! You rock, Toto. Looks like the paint is still wet!!

Toto, that is just silly. Just plain silly. You're showing us a car that you didn't even dry. Do you want me to FedEx you a Guzzler?

;)

Toto you are the BMW god!!

Love your work, its your inspiration that is giving me the ideas to go and grab a rotary!!!

Thanks everyone for the compliments! You all really help "push" me towards excellence. The dealer saw the car today and was stunned!

Much appreciated...and I AM going to somehow make the next AutoGeek Detail Fest.

See Ya....BTW...I've got another black 530i to start tomorrow.
