Long story short ClayMagic has a patent(sp?) on it and closed the doors to everyone in the U.S. trying to make there own. All clay in the U.S comes from ClayMagic, Everyone just orders it to what ever spec they want.

Ok, I knew the second part, but not the closing doors part. I see. Thank you. So in your opinion, is there a real difference between using Pinnacle or Clay magic on a high end car? I need to re-clay the vette - 'bout to hit it with Menzerna.Feed back please

Yes Pinnacle/Wolfgang orders it to their spec or how mild they want it. I guess I should say the ingrediants come from the same place. The recipes is what sets them apart for the most part. The Blue Claymagic at parts store is a good clay and is safe to use on any car.

Yah I have used that on all the cars except the vette. On that I used pinnacle, but think my bar is shot.
We need nica to send us all ricardo clay!!!
thanks for the info, wytstang!Im the MAN :awesome:

EXACTLY!! Save the day, Nica!!! Save us!!:righton: :awesome: Im the MAN Nica's clay ROCKS!:righton:

The Mother's clay bar looks the same. It's yellow just like that, is it the same? I don't really understand why one clay would be so much better than another. I just use that Mothers stuff from Wal Mart. I plan on getting some pinnacle clay one day, but for now the Mothers seems just fine.

Mother's is far from same. Ricardo's is just a label, clay underneath was sold under other names and it is a best thing I have tried so far. If you tried it you would know what I mean, Mother's would be thrown in a can.

gnarboots11 - I totally agree with ZoranC, I've used the Mothers Clay bar and Meg's regular white clay bar. These seem to be the ones you can find localy and they are fine but it's hard to compare these clay bars to the "Ricardo" clay bars. Next time you use it try to stretch it like I did in the pictures, see how far it will go. Not only that but I find they have a different bite to it, with the Mothers or Meg's clay bars I found that I really had to press hard too and go over and over and over the same area to get results...but that's just me. Clay Magic (red one) is wicked stuff too, has an even better bite then "Ricardo" clay. But use it with warning, Clay Magic (red one) does live micromarring and should only be used on vehicle that really require it. Well that's just my $0.02 hope it helps.

See this is what I'm talking about, try to get your clay bar to do this.

I've tried to get the Mothers and Meg's to stretch the same way and they would snap. The other point is that they are hard to manipulate compared to the "Yellow" clay bars. I'm not chemist but I would say that different formulas compared to Mothers and Megs...but like I said I'm no chemist.

To be honest Lauren, I didn't mind Pinnacle. In fact I still have one bar left but I wont be using it for a wile. So how does it compare in my opinion, I found the Pinnacle clay bar to be very mild compared to the Ricardo, where Ricardo shines though is in it's ability to be manipulated. You can strech it and work it like bubble gum while Pinnacle you cant really do that. It's hard to compare because to me they are two different clay's but that's I hope that info helps you.

I haven't used the blue Clay Magic, I've only used the red one and the red one blows Ricardo out of the water. The red Clay Magic has a bite like you would not imagine, okay it's like this. It has such a bite that it leaves micro-marring, that's how strong it is. Ricardo clay bar will do the job and not leave any micro-marring, well unless you really put some pressure. I find that manipulating Clay Magic clay isn't that bad either, not as good as Ricardo but I love it for it's bite. These two are the only clay's that I use and as you noticed by the amount of clay I ordered I won't be changing clay bars any time soon. :D

I take it you have used the blue Clay Magic? Funny thing though is that on the box of the red Clay Magic is says "medium grade" and it's not medium grade. Good stuff for those neglected vehicles oh and perfect for overspray, overspray sucks.

well hope this helps Lauren but please note that this is only my opinion only, nothing else.

Actually the blue clay is the closest clay to the yellow Ricarrdo clay I have used...it is stretchy(not as much) and mild..but does the job...and no marring....never crumbled..smeared..for 10.99 OTC with a lube..its a good clay
