The Legend of Dawn

There is something about dawn vs other dish soap products. For example, over the weekend my pup stepped in fresh road tar during a walk, the non-dawn soap I first tried failed to remove much of any tar from her paws - I went back and found the Dawn and the tar came off in clumps.

honestly i think sal is to blame, he states you should use it as part of the prep for zaino. Coming up on 7 years, 4 months without anything new on the "what's new" page there.

lol!!! I detailed that Black Porsche Turbo that's on the photos home page back in like 2000!

:iagree::dblthumb2: I agree and use it exclusively before every detail. It definitely strips and preapres the surface.

It's all about the ph of the products. Dawn according to their msds is 8.7-9.3 which is alkaline. 7 being neutral.

When you dump a couple of glugs of Dawn in 4 GALLONS of water, it's going to be pretty close to the pH of the water. Tap water is not going to be neutral.

I just can't see spending $$$ on all kinds of detailing stuff and using Dawn to wash my car. I don't think it would cause an issue, but I'd rather just use an aggressive car shampoo instead of Dawn.

I use Citrus Red at 1oz/gallon in an attempt to possibly weaken an LSP. At that dilution, it's some slick and foamy stuff.

I have not seen any discussion regarding the differences between Dawn and Dawn Ultra. It is significant in my experience. Whether or not the concentrated version has any effect on wax or sealants is just beating a dead horse. For my dishwashing needs I seek Dawn Ultra for the power and value. It would be interesting to hear which version the "Dawn for detailing" proponents use on their paint and what bearing it has on the vehicles.

I'm just thinking out loud..............

p.s. I completely agree with the above post! Why would I spend $20 on car shampoo just to wash my car with a $2 bottle of dish soap?

I just use 5oz of chemical guys citrus wash and gloss to 5 gallons of water and it strips it fine
