The Look Back?

Every time, especially if I see anyone walking in the parking lot near my car...I walk slow and look back several times until I'm sure they're not anywhere around my car. I also always try to get a space where my car is against a curb or something so there is only 1 exposed side and make sure that side has more than enough open space for those door flingers

I do the same when parking over in China isn't an option. I'll only accept a curb spot where it puts my car on their ride side so the door ding potential is minimized.

but then the person backs in beside you...

I've got my wife trained to do that now too, haha

Wanna know how you avoid door dings in the city....

You buy a car with dings pre-installed.

Seriously, when I go down town I take the beater. When I see people street parking their Mercedes I almost have a heart attack!

Yep. I usually position myself in sight of my truck at all times as well.

Every time - and if I just washed it I'll circle around to appreciate the shine - and it's worth the stank-eye/eye roll combo my wife gives me every time too!

Guilty as charged. Although my car is filthy right now and is therefore probably not deserving of the "Look Back". :o

always and do a inspection of my car/s when I come back too just make sure nobody touch it

I do that ^

I circle my car like a dog in heat to make sure no one messeed with my baby whilst I was away

I'll park alongside the curb (like 1 inch from the curb) as mentioned, but only when it puts me in the position so that the car parked next to mines passengers door is facing my side

Glad to see I'm not the only one who suffers from this condition

I always tell my car "I'll be right back" too!

Yes, Yes, and No! I think you might be alone on talking to your car, Flash! Well...I wouldn't be surprised if some folks talk to their cars. I've never felt the need. Now if my car was in some way unreliable...

:bolt:

As much as I want to, I am usually busy checking to make sure my fly is zipped up. :D

My wife and I are both very protective of our baby. It has 0 door dings and we know the 1st one is going to kill us. I always park it way out by its lonesome, keep an eye on it if possible, and have been known to move it if after all that someone insists on parking along side her. We have been known to come home and exchange cars if we can't get a safe Place and always do an inspection if someone does park close. We've recently discussed if its even practical at all because of this. The other night after we safely parked her at our favorite Diner we came out and found cars on both sides. It was dark and as soon as we could get near light we checked it very close. Scared me enough that next time I'll park across the highway in a closed business if I have to. And yes I look for the reasons of just admiring her and have been known to take pics when the light is right. I don't know what owners of exotics or super classics do, perhaps just joy ride and shows. I said I would pay for metered parking in a shopping center lot for double wide spots. We NEVER take our baby to Walmart. My wife's dark green Volvo is full of door dents and scratches. Her coworkers when they saw our Cobra said if that was mine I'd drive it to work everyday. But she told me she never will because parking is so close and jealous coworkers would key it. So on nice days I drop her off and pick her up in it and she loves it. So we all love and care for our vehicles the same careful loving amount. You are not alone. Spiney

I do that too. I have to admit depending on the day I'm having I have applied " Don't look

for what you don't want to find" theory. Sometimes at the end of a hard day the last thing

I want to see is some type of negligence from someone else.

I always look back, sometimes more than once....

You are not alone!

To me, the "look back" is often the greatest reward.
You bust your butt with your nose up close to the paint and often it's the "look back" the next morning that gives you the true satisfaction for your efforts.

Look back. Especially because I park so far away at establishments to protect against the door bangers. Gives me more looks.

I know this isn't right of me, but sometimes I'll look down on someone because my car is cleaner then theirs.... I figure I'm a better person then they are I guess you might say...

Is there anything wrong with feeling this way?

Guilty of the "look back" every time myself.
Good to know I'm among like-minded individuals...

Every time.... I do it a few times on the walk into work, and while at work I look out the front entrance to see it.

My girlfriend hates that I park at the back of the parking lot so I don't get door dings. But if you take a look some time, the nice cars are always parked further away and the junkers and don't care if they slam their door into the next car, are the people fighting for a spot up front.
