The More Coats Of Wax The Better????????

its called the Point of Diminishing Return ... and with waxes it is likely one or two coats maximum.

Can you elaborate a little more on this please?

Get to a point where your just wasting product, and sometimes multiple layers of some waxes "mute" the look.

Its most commonly used in econmoics, basicly what it means is that the marginal utlity of each layer is less then the one previous untill the the margiinal utity becomes negative.

in laymens terms. With wax, the first coat will do the most looks and protection wise, the seconed will help but be a little less then the furst. The third will do somthing but will be less then the seconed and thusly the first. This continues until the next laywer of wax actyally does more harm then good.
With protection this will take many coats. I mean more will protect better most of the time. However with the looks, to much wax can casue the refraction of light to become worse then the coat before. Basicly the car is not as shiney becasue there is to much wax.

I hope this helps, its kinda jubled and un-orginzed but none the less I THINK it helps

Also include the fact that when you are pushing the wax into the panel, it will abrade in some form or another, taking off the previous layer. Wax doesn't uniformly add in equal amounts after every coat, it will diminish after every attempt.

The conventional wisdom says that paint can only hold so much wax or sealant. After that, one is just waxing on and waxing off with little to no gain. Once I understood this, I stopped waxing more than 2 coats. I do keep it up with a spray wax and I feel it keeps the shine fresh.

Isn't that why we add two layers of wax? To complete a uniform look? I always do and will..

Yes that is a good amount, but after the 4th or 5th layer or more there isn't any positive difference to justify the use of the product.

I agree. Even after the third layer it begins to tone down. Two is the way to go... :awesome:

puting on like 50 layers of wax = pointless...just put on a coat when slickness and water beading diminish...or when you feel the shine doesnt have that "pop" to it. put all the layers on that you want...but when you break out the polish... kiss all that work and money goodbye...

Is It True The More Coats Of Wax The Better?? I Know Applying 2 Coats Is Better For Protection And Gloss But What About Like 50 Coats?? Is That To Much ? Is It Good To Use A Solvent Based Wax Once And A While To Strip Off The Wax To Start Fresh. Is It Bad To Keep Waxing The Same Paint Is To Much Wax Bad?

All waxes have a solvent in them so layering wax has no benefit as the second layer will replace the first layer. It doesn't layer like a polymer will.

It is argued that if you wait 24 hours between each wax layer that you can build up layers, if that be true then most likely anything beyond 2 layers would be your limit. After that the effects would be diminishing.

I was wondering if follow up with sprayer wax is good. How often do you use sprayer wax and how soon after second wax?
Thanks.

It seems to me that the more wax you put on, the more you have too put on, to keep the look.

1 to 2 coats of wax every 6-8 weeks is plenty. Always prep the paint surface before applying the first coat of wax for the best depth and shine.

i just put 1 coat on .. and if i have time the next week when i wash my truck ill top it with another coat...
