The most misspelled word on forums...

In what many people have called the "New Millenium", and where the opportunities for education, including obtaining knowlege (even as it pertains to acquiring word skills), are apparantly deemed to be unneccessary, and quite unfortunatly, in my opinion, bye weigh to many.

Butt, I have allways senced, tryingy too publically assasinate a person because of their missuse, or missspellings of words, may knot be in their best interest. They just may have the tendancy to not allways follow old Webster's religous persuit of being in total posession of the "Mother Tung".

Maybe all of this word correctiveness is just propoganda. Local dialects are part of any countries' history. Missspellings, or interpertations, of those seemingly seminal languages, should not be met with resistence, but embraced.

With that in mind, I'm willing to try to seperate myself from those that are wonted to call those that misspell, and misuse words a Neandetal.

Also: Conversely, I will try not two gage those that are prone to "wurd correctiveness" in a like manor.

That's a good one... I looked it up one time and somewhere I found that gage is also acceptable but I always type gauge as it just looks right when spelled out.

I agree but I still try very hard to choose the right word and spell it correctly since I represent the AG company. I'm a member of a number of different forums and my normal habit it to do my best to write correctly.

I agree again. I know how to spell and I usually know which words I intend to choose and use, but sometimes when speed typing and multi-tasking mistakes are made.

My favorite thing when I make a mistake is for someone to PM me and let me know about it versus just pointing it out in the thread.

Idk about other browsers. but Firefox has built in spell check. So this leads me to believe that people just like to spell wrong....ALOT!
 
Definitely the most misspelled word is "definite" or any of its variants.

Those two are the ones I have noticed the most. Doesn't bode well for the whole Phonetics reading system now, does it?

Another fun one to look for, especially on automotive-related forums, is the replacing of bumper with bumber. :xyxthumbs:
Can't tell you how many times I've seen that one!
 
I get a chuckle when I see an "after" photo labeled "Wa La"
(I think they mean voilà). :)
 
Since we're going at it, please take note of this one:

Anxious" should refer to anxiety and not pleasant feelings such as enthusiasm or excitement. It should be followed by a gerund (the "–ing" verb form), not an infinitive ("to" and the verb). Use "eager" with the infinitive.

* "He was anxious about becoming the President." (He had an uncomfortable feeling about it.)
* "He was anxious to become the President."
* "He was eager/ready to become the President." (He was happy about it.)
* "He was waiting to become the President."
 
I'm a huge grammar nazi, so I definitely notice when someone misspells a word or uses the incorrect form of a word. I understand we're only human and we make mistakes, so that doesn't really bother me.

The one thing I do hate however, is ghetto speak. Or when people purposely misspell words because they're lazy or they're just clueless.

I completely agree on the ghetto speak. There have been many threads where the title has been worded in that fashion and I won't even read it. Not worth my time.
