The most over-rated products?

Have you even tried any of those products? It's obvious you haven't if you have that opinion about them....

If the prep. gives 95-98% of the look as everyone here states, and then, yes, it doesn't make any sense to spend $1000, $100, or even $60 on a wax, unless a customer requests said wax. 99% of people won't be able to tell a difference between the $5000 wax and the $50 wax, and for the 1% that apparently can see a difference, how do we not know that it is just an illusion? And, since beauty is in the eye of the beholder, those that can perceive a difference, how do you know they won't prefer the look of the cheaper wax?

845 is not over rated

I agree with this and providing the surface it's applied to is clean and free of contamination, Collinite 845 provides a gorgeous gloss and 4 to 5 solid months of solid protection.

Collinite 845 is the last product I apply to my finish as my truck heads into a New England winter and it stays on guard right through March. I use this faithfully each fall in November and it keeps my truck looking like it does today.

This is an example of the gloss it's capable of after polishing the finish.

It is possible to have a product work better on one finish and not another. My feeling is that the final results are more dependent on the surface prep that we might think...:props:

Customer cars I apply a $40-60 wax. My personal car I prefer my sv waxes. However you can't say that they are over rated Just because of the price.

Let me tell you a story about 845 and my new corolla, I applied 845 to to the car a week after i got it and a week later I noticed bird crap on the door, so I wiped it of with warm water and a rag. I noticed that their was an oil streak after I was done, weird looking streak. I got more 845 and wiped it in, stain gone and no sign of clear coat damage! And this crap was dried on.

Best story ever!!!! That just made me buy more 845! Thanks bud.

Actual I can say it's overrated because of price as several have already done with Sonax, which obviously is an effective cleaner.

... Ok you can say what you want but the question was over rated product. Not over priced product. Sonax fe is a great wheel cleaner.

Well it does say insulator wax on bottle! I really think it is better then all the other stuff I have used and really pops my corollas metallic red paint. I do have Souverän wax, but i think 845 looks as good and has far more protection.

I like 845 and M205/M105 a lot. What I haven't been so thrilled with is Mothers back to black (which it doesn't seem to do as the name says) and 303 protectant (where's the shine?).

Yeah man. You have any other 845 stories?!! Like maybe dried up dog poop on your car an collinite removed the stain?

You didn't answer the question :) - have you ever tried any of these $60+ waxes?

IMO, overrated? Easy. Blackfire sealant. See my review in another thread here. Lifeless looking, and dusty.

Blackfire sealant (I have the new version too) is really easy to apply/remove, is extremely slick, side by side with 845, 845 deepened my car's paint (dark green) whereas the Blackfire side had no change/improvement visually.

Try topping BFWD. I've topped it with Swissvax concorso, severl Dodo Juice waxes, etc with fantastic results.

^ This x 100. Exactly my thoughts on BFWD. No change. Is it slick? yes. Is it easy to apply? yes. But looks-wise, no change. And dusty. Compared to other sealants.

But why would I opt to use and top BFWD, if it offers no added benefit other than slickness and ease of use, when I get the same, if not more, from WGDGPS, 4Star, and Jetseal? Those can be topped too. I'd rather use a sealant that's slick and easy to apply PLUS looks good/wet/deep on its own, right from the get-go.

Now again, as my other thread stated, MAYBE the benefit of BFWD is durability over those other brands I mentioned... but still, durability for me, I don't care. Since I wash and paintcleanse and top and re-apply every week or 2.

I completely understand where you're coming from. I've personally achieved fantastic results using bfwd as an lsp as well as topping it. I've never had an issue applying or removing it from any vehicle. It goes on/comes off pretty easily in my experience. All things considered, bfwd is a fantastic sealant, one of the best imo.

I agree with you on DP wheel glaze. I may just throw away my 95% full tub of DP wheel glaze.

I can throw you a couple bucks to send it my way :props:
Use it on my vehicle exhaust tips and my chrome wheels after polishing. Also works great on my sportbike wheels. Doesn't have the durability of some others but it cleans with just a hose and doesn't require any scrubbing to clear the brake dust.

My over-rated items:
cobra mf- for the price
M105- dusting, tough to remove
XMT 360- lack of working time/correction

I've never heard anyone talk about it, so while I believe you that it's a pain to work with (just like the Primo I've got) I don't think it really qualifies as over rated. Just my .02

Very true. Migliore is hardly talked about at all and your correct...The wax is just so horrible to get on and off I had to let it out. The only thing its used for now is to wax my toolbox and its still frustrating to use but I'm not gonna let it go to waste. I just wont do anything bigger then my tool box with it because it becomes such an aggravation

Yeah I got one.

Once this lady fell off a building and Collonite 845 swooped down and caught her, flew her to safety.

Yeah, it's that good. It's super good.
