I just looked at those backing plates and if you read the description, they pretty much say exactly what I posted above about the MF discs staying cooler and lasting longer. Great post ski2!!
Attn: Autogeek... we need some of these vented 5" backing plates here in your store as well...
This has me thinking. I've got several 5" plates sitting around, time to break out the drill press and some hole boring bits.
....I get they don't care about the bells and whistles just want it to look good..
They actually don't even care about it looking good. They just want it to look different than when it came in. Depending on the type of dealership, type of car. If it's a mixed lot used car lot, (rather than a specialized brand, IE their own type cars) their 'standard' will be much less than say if they offer CPO (Certified Pre Owned) cars.
Keep that in mind when you're doing the work. If they are the typical 'beaters' then the faster the better. Knock off the dirt, hit the high spots, spray the tires and move on.
For the 'front line' cars you should be asking the guys what they want, SHOW them there are different levels you can achieve. (
Not that they'll want to pay any more for one vs the other.)

But if you can get it, then by all means DO get it.
With the AIO, there are many different levels of AIO, some do a better job of finishing than others, some cut better. What one guy likes, another might not like at all, or may have never tried. Get several, try them all. Find what you like and use it, use it a lot and use it often. With the MF pads you'll get good cut no matter so that'll be easy. It's entirely possible to correct most cars with 205 just by changing around your pads. That's one reason I like to have both the 'cutting' and 'finishing' pads. Not that the latter will get NEAR as much work as the first one but you never know.

They'll be LSP ready and then hit them with a decent spray wax and be done with it. (Or a WOWA sealant for that matter, just that they cost a LOT more.)
