Water beads pretty up fine here is a pic it rained last night and this is how it sits after the rain
 
Its going to be interesting to see how well the DGNCC holds up over the next few monthes and we hear about that. Granted I do plan on applying a 3rd coat only because of the temps I applied it in and I'll feel much better applying it when the temps are much warmer. After that, I will not apply another coat or anything else ontop of it, only DG rinseless washes.

Sounds like a good plan. I need to coat the entire car. Next nice warm day I'll finish the car. I used the hood as test bed. If this coating will last a year I will be very pleased.
 
Yeah I agree about the 1 yr durability and its really going to vary on a couple things like garage kept, how frequent the car is washed, environment and prep work, along with other factors I'm not thinking about right now. My next coat in warm weather will be the last application of anything on the car for some time and I'll be monitoring it very closely.

No matter what coating manufacturers say....I won't touch that car in terms of applying any coating unless its at least 68 degrees. I've regretted it every time I've waivered from that.

Very good advice right here, maybe the old rule of thumb needs to be risen a bit, think inflation, LOL!

It had better last longer than that. I can get a year + out of 601/105 with 932 washings.

Tis true 601/105 is good for a year. I'd imagine any coating from Duragloss will never disappoint.
 
I will admit that coatings have intrigued me and that's why I've tried them, never had an issue with my other DG products, Collinite or anything else I've used since coming here to AG. I used to rub on my car about every other week because I liked to do it but now its a different ball game with coatings since I was told by Bill to NOT put anything ontop of DGNCC, even the use of AW has to wait 6 monthes!

Maybe that's why I had less than stellar results with cquartz when I applied it. Sheets very slow and the beads suck.

I am about to put CQUK on my daughter's car tomorrow.

Any tips or pointers before I apply it?

I think it was the temps. I used the regular cquartz also. I might try reapplying it here soon.
Others have had success with it so I'm gonna give it another shot.
 
Temps are supposed to be around 68 degrees F tomorrow around 11am. Maybe I will wait until then to apply.

CarPro web site states the following for CQUK:
"Idiot proof application in any Temp. from 5~30 deg.C"
(41 deg.F to 86 deg.F if Google didn't fail me.)
 
Mine was applied in the 40s in my garage and left to cure for 30 mins before I removed it.
 
One week update on sheeting compared to Carpro Reload.

Again, DGNCC (Enviroshield) over entire car. Reload topped on driver side of hood only.

I applied CQUK this weekend (70 deg) and the results were hazy. I applied too slow, thin and waited too long to wipe off.

I stripped and reapplied. This time I used more product on the pad, applied faster, and removed immediately after completing a section (e.g. half a hood, one door). Results were excellent.

Hope this helps you when you try again.
 
Coatings take practice practice practice. Although the vendors make it sound easy there are many variables that only practice will sort out.

Timing is crucial in terms of application and wipe off. Temp and humidity factor into it.

I think my problem was I didn't apply it thick enough. I wiped the panels with an abundance of eraser not once, but twice so I know they had to have been ready to coat.
It might have been a few contributing factors but I think I'll get it right the next time. The cquartz is still there but sheets very slow and the beads are pathetic.
 
Learn something everyday, I thought all coatings were WOWA. As far as too thin goes, this is why the 2nd coat for us non professionals is key, plus it doesn't hurt anything, I'll be applying my 3rd coat as soon as Mother Nature decides to step up the temp to normal levels, LOL!
