The oil DISASTER!!!!

who cares about bad press??? i mean this is our way life down here and is being affected everyday he should do whatever it takes to clean this disaster up regardless of politics! bp doesnt have enough money to clean this up we will all start fitting the bill here soon! just clean it up whatever it takes! and paying people ridiculous amount of money to walk on the beach to pick up oil is insane why pay people $14+ an hr to pick up tar balls? thats not very economical run out of money paying people to walk our beaches than actually doing affective things like stopping the damn leak!now down here in pensacola fl the government is saying that 8 miles of our beach will not receive any mechanical help do to not being a national shoreline WTF???? freaking idiots!!!

he maybe yachting but he isnt an engineer so what else you want him to do?im not defending him by no means! bp isnt doing anything! and if i remember correctly the land affected by this is the united states of america and the president should be very quick to act and on the ball! u talk about ceo yachting but you fail to mention obama spending more time on golf courses and attending concerts that are paid for by our tax money than he actually works! his own chief of staff emanuel works more than this guy! how can anyone defend this administration? yea i didnt vote for him and do not think he is a good president i think he is a salesman in a suit imo. how can a president turn away help 3 days after the spill occured? how can a president not send all the resources we have down here when it first happened? yea i know im bashing but the reality of the situation is that he is not the right guy for the job let alone all the other issues he fails to connect with america on.......
DId you vote for BUSH???

I have one word for you. KATRINA!!!!!

Was President BUSh was "on the ball" when Hurricane Katrina happend?

he maybe yachting but he isnt an engineer so what else you want him to do? Is President Obama an engineer?

Same thing we asked when Katrina happend. How long will it take?

He can do NO right to some,i guess your just 1.
bush wasnt great either but he was down in katrina 5 days later how long did it take obama over 2 weeks!!!!

figured it would go back to katrina. anyway we could argue back forth for years on this. my thing is who cares what it takes to get cleaned up this government should do it!

Just remember guys, none of us know the truth.... Only educated estimations based off what the puppet media tells us. All of us are probably wrong. But it sure is great to be able to have an opinion.

I was comparing heyward yachting to your president golfing. anyway everyone is entitled to their opinion and I am just a frustrated and angry at the way this country is being runned and the road we are on. We can argue all day long about politics but it does no good. The fact of the matter is that there is a disaster in the gulf leaking 60,000 barrels of crued oil and gas into the ocean and it needs to be stopped! maybe once it reaches the east coast America will see it plugged. I am not going to argue on a forum its not worth it with that being said I am done with the back and forth.

OMG people for the last time they are doing everything they can to stop this leak. I'm sorry but I'm sick and tired of people complaining about this.

There is NOTHING our pres can do to stop the leak. Its 5000ft below the surface and nothing like this has ever happened before.

If there was a fast and easy fix BP would have done it by now other then spending billions on cleanup and reimbursement.

You guys down there may have nice Weather and all... but I can do without the Hurricanes that come and visit you every second week. Then toss in some Oil and... yucko.

Here's hoping you make it through the Summer, OK.

:iagree:

if the CEO of BP isn't an engineer,i wonder how he got to that position?

I honestly didn't see it as an arguement. When i read it i didn't see that many FACTS stated. The topic changed from British Petrolium to the President. To me when i read it,seems as though the problem was the President & not BP. I don't care one way or the other,i just needed to understand the LOGIC of this thread!

I'm from Louisiana & i know all to well the damage it will cause to the seafood & people lives.

I feel as though "If the head CEO of British Petrolium doesn't care enuff to deal with the problem...He should be oust once the oil has stopped" He rather go yacht racing than deal with a major problem his company has caused to millions of lives. The President hasn't cause any problems other than him being BLACK!

None of my questions wasn't answered & i don't expect them to be.

Being a CEO has nothing to do with being an engineer. These guys are chosen by the board because they make companies money, they are not chosen to get their hands dirty. Most don't even have backgrounds in the companies they work for. Heck I worked for a major tire company and the new CEO's background was window blinds.

Do you think the CEO of your company would be concernd about the Major Tire Company if disaster struck? Or would he go fishing?

I'm just appauled @ how disengaged the guy Hayward is @ a time like this. It's obvious that the CEO of BP's mind is elsewhere. even if i wasn't an engineer,i still would HELP!

"I want my life back!"(TH) How about the people in the Gulf?

I am not going to discuss politics on a detailing forum but, I will throw this out there…

BP is a Company, their main objective is to make money and keep shareholders happy.

With that said, BP worked for a VERY LONG time to drill/establish that oil well and spent TONS of dollars doing so…

They are not about to take ANY MEASURES that would compromise this oil well, even if they could stop the flow today.

From the two choices of:
A) Stopping the gushing oil
B) Being stewards of the environment

BP will choose the one that is most financially advantageous to their bottom line, not what is best for the environment.

For those stating that BP does not know how to fix this because this is the 1st time that this has happened… I would like to give you some insight on a process we use in the automotive industry…

FMEA’s stands for Failure Mode Effect & Analysis…

There are 2 FMEA’s that we must do in the Auto industry, one is for design and one is for process.

Doing a proper and thorough FMEA allows you to identify the potential risks, you then are able to prioritize the associated risk via a calculation called an RPN (risk priority number). You then pareto (prioritize) these risks and implement actions to prevent these risks and then you move on to the next highest pareto item.

This all occurs BEFORE the failure happens…. I don’t know anything about oil drilling but one would think they also use FMEA’s or something similar…..

Bottom line is using the reasoning that they are having a hard time stopping this because it has never happened before is simply UNNACEPTABLE! If you are going to make money on something that has the potential to have such a huge negative impact it is your due diligence to think of all the “what ifs” and implement measures to prevent them….Sure, one cannot think of all of the “what ifs” but this seems to be a pretty basic one that shouldn’t be a “Geez, we never thought of that” scenario…
