The other thing about them is how to clean them, even the most hard core "geek" would struggle with them

I'm the same, on the right vehicle they can look good, but it is a bit overdone these days. The wheels currently on the FJ are powder coated, so have a satin finish. They can be a real pain to clean. I am thinking of switching back to the original alloys.speak for yourself....I have no problems
Your rims just "work" on the FJ thoughI'm the same, on the right vehicle they can look good, but it is a bit overdone these days. The wheels currently on the FJ are powder coated, so have a satin finish. They can be a real pain to clean. I am thinking of switching back to the original alloys.
The wheels I've never liked, and would never put on any vehicle, is chrome, and I mean full chrome. Chrome wheels end up looking like cheap chrome plastic wheel covers. They just always look fake to me.

So that glowing orb I've heard so many stories about came out today, so I just HAD to see what the KN rims would look like on the EN...kinda. I rolled one out there, put it infront of one and took some picks.
Once I rolled it back in I decided to do a more specific cleaning. I sprayed 303 tire cleaner on the tires and Gyeon Prep on the wheels...faces, spokes and barrels. I then wiped it in and off. Once I was done I decided to coat the rims and tires. For the rims I used my old TAC system power plus coating. It's pretty old but seem to apply and wipe off pretty well. For the tires I used TW Endura tire coating, 2x's with that w/ time inbetween for it to cure.
The tires/wheels will cure in the living room before going down into the basement till Easter. I hate winter and because I've got something I've wanted for a long time I'm sure winter will drag by nowI've got some urethane bushings to get installed as well as interior leds and license plate bulbs, so plenty of little mods but they add up in both looks and perf...stay "tuned"

I haven't yet but I've gotta say that the DIY Detail RW is pretty good and finishes out nicely. There's so many good ones out there but I'll probably buy the small size of P&S' newest productHave you tried Absolute?
