Going through some old photos, taken with actual film, I found these blasts from the past. Both are ex-police vehicles, I guess I had a thing for them. The blue is a 91 Commodore with the 3.8 V6, it was probably a detectives car. The paint was horrible, it was oxidising as I looked at it. The white was a 95 Commodore, 5.0 V8, and it was a highway patrol vehicle. View attachment 139074View attachment 139075View attachment 139076

No plastic engine covers back then.

Car park pic in the fog is that in Hobart Tasmania?

Bingo, well spotted, the first two pics of the VR were taken on Mt Wellington, but on different trips, I'd changed plates and added spotties for the second trip.
Last time i was up Mt Wellington or whatever the Aboriginals have re named it, was summer time and snowing. Beautiful view of the city.

This is a 1963 Datsun Bluebird, my grandfather drove one of these in the early 70s, same colour too. It's the first car I remember being driven around in, apparently I always told him to go faster. My strongest memories are of how bouncy the seats were, no child seats back then, and the sign on the door saying windows must be wound up above 100MPH, I don't know if it could actually go that fast, they only made 60hp. Later I bought a Bluebird as my first car. This particular one is in Arizona, but was an Australian delivered car.

Meanwhile back in Thornton, birds are using the FJ for shelter from the rain.

Last full day with the OEM Michelin Pilot Sport 4s on the car, almost 3 full seasons (KN tires on the KN rims back in 2023)

No matter what, unless it's actually raining, it goes through the touch-free wash every morning (or after work) and as you can see in the first pic weather was coming and it did rain about 30 mins later

I did treat my leather bits before going into work though. I've got a co-worker who just put a newer leather steering wheel on his Challenger "Shaker" edition and he scratched it, so I'm going to try and make it better

Bloody oath it did!

I also took it out this afternoon with absolutely nowhere to go in mind. I found a nice curvy road, selected track mode, gearbox in manual, windows down to hear the track exhaust mode echo off the trees. Absolute bliss!
