The Strangest Thing Happened Today

Actually, they say they don't kick that bad at all....they're just loud as hell, especially when they fire a round this size:
The closest thing I could compare the recoil to is a high brass 2 3/4" 12 gage recoil. It's more of a big push than a sharp kick. It's pretty manageable.

I want one, but the semi-auto version from Barett. However, I cannot afford one at $6k and the ammo at like $2 each.

The today's going price on the Barrett runs from $8000 to $10,000 (82A or 107). If I could have picked a new one up for 6K it would be sitting next to me now. They are very nice guns. I have two friends one owns the AR and the other owns the Barrett, both are a pleasure to shoot. The Armalite is slightly more accurate by virtue of the single shot bolt (at least it has been with me pulling the trigger) but both are very accurate weapons.

There was a store here in Fl that had one for $7k. I think my $6k was a little low. But that is the only time that I have actually seen one.

I would think that even at 7K it would be a second hand rifle. I've been watching the prices on .50 rifles (all makes) for the last decade and even in a state that has a lot of guns on the shelf I've never seen one below $7300 and that was several years ago. Don't get me wrong a good second hand rifle just means someone else took the depreciation hit on it. That wouldn't deter me from considering one.

Edit: I just checked Barrett's web site and the MSRP on the 82A is $8010. I don't know if there is 1K of margin in a rifle or not. Could be.

Killerwheels, My deptartment is changing from the Sig P229R to glocks. We have has so many problems with sig's that they had to do something. Sig is a good target gun, but you start to use it in tactical situations you have better luck throwing it at the person.

Never had a jam, misfire, and even been fired damp. My Sig Pro has .357 and .40 barrels and worked flawless. Obviously the Sport is a collectors piece, and not fired much. I have a Glock 17 with a Firedragon barrel and never an issue either, got so little kick the wife calls it her gun.

Judging by the last visit to the range I'd probably have better luck throwing it at someone no matter how well the gun shot:o

Our PD got all new Glocks this year as well because of performance issues on their last weapons.

I have a Sig 2009 and 226. I have never had a problem with mine either. I have had three failures between both of them in 2500 rounds. Two were failure to feeds on my 2009 in the same magazine. Stopped using that hollowpoint brand and I never had a problem since.

I just want a Berreta M93R Auto 9 From ROBOCOP, just look at my signature!

Nice 50 cal by the way!!
Ive shot an Ak-47, an M4 AR 15, M1 Garand Rifle, and a K98 Bolt Action.
My fav was AK and M1 and K98 brought me to the Medal of Honor glory days, hell when I shot those I felt I was in WWII.

I've had multiple failures with my P229. We've had a number over the last year, slides wearing out and not locking back when empty. We got a whole batch of about 20 and not one would go into battery without a little "help". I think all in all we got a few bad orders, I've heard a lof of people say really good things about Sig's, I've just had bad luck.

dept probably bought a reconditioned batch, looking for best pricing. Funny how we put a shuttle into space, yet we farm out every nut and bolt and go with the lowest bidder
