The "Suggestions" & "Comments" Thread for Autogeek

don't know how much longer the forum will stay up (seems like things are getting worse), so i wanted to say thank you (once again) to all the forum members who have had a positive influence on here over the years. i've have had the opportunity to meet a lot of good/honest people on here and i will forever be grateful!

I haven't been here as long as some, but I can safely say I have learnt a lot from the members here and would certainly miss the interaction.

It's going to be a sad day in detailing history

I said it like two years ago, forums are dead. Nobody goes to them anymore. The youth are all about TicTok, Youtube, etc. That's also where the advertisers will go so eyes will see their adds or user promoted products. Forums have always been my favorite "social media", so it's a serious bummer.

Attention AG Staff/Mods/Owners - The forum is running painfully SLOW more often than not. Please look lnto the problem. It's turning away forum members from visiting/posting on here. Thank You.

Agreed the pages have been loading super slow

I wonder if it is all those spammers hammering the server.

It could be. I also wonder if someone discovered a zero day vulnerability in the vBulletin software. Other forums I go to which are moderated had a flurry of SPAM leak through the last few weeks.

Currently showing 15 members and almost 6,000 "guests" on the forum

Obviously lots of guys are googling "how can I fix my paint" or whatever, but 6,000 non members seems like a lot and I would think that could slow things down

Spam bots, zero day, whatever it is it is making it a PITA to use the forum

And I just hit "post" and it INSTANTLY posted, then hit "reply" and that was instantaneous too

Pretty darn crazy going from dial up slow to fiber optic fast in a few seconds

Yes, I think all those guests are hammering the servers.

Something to think of too is the huge network and all the connections between the device you are using to access the forum and the hosting environment(s) where the data and software reside. Any one of those could have an issue or something going on which causes things to speed up or slow down. I'm not trying to defend AG, but without having a look "behind the curtain" its hard to know where to assign blame. My experience on the site is pretty consistent.

Every search can be huge workload for system and having 6000 it could be tremendous since a lot of data. I would disable most searches to limit them to say just recent posts snd signed in people only.

I don't know the numbers, but I'm pretty sure if we have 6000 non members today, we had as much months ago when we didn't have this problem.
