The UPS guy is going to hate me.

Only answer i have is i dont like it when anyone tries to step in while im doing my job.... what if someone just picked up a wash mit to help u wash your car and you know they have no idea what your doing and how your doing it... yea you may say sure thanks for the help..... but you know you would have rather them not touch it... if he brings one box i say ask if you can lend a hand.... but ill bet hes bringing the hand truck all in one shot...

I would help him out. My UPS guy is very friendly and always admires my cars and compliments them. So I usually go out and help him with the packages no matter what.

I'm paying nearly $200 to have this stuff shipped, ain't no way I'm tipping the driver too.

Do you appreciate a tip when you go above and beyond for a detail customer?

The shipping fee goes to the corporation. The $5 tip (and maybe a cold one) go directly to the guy who ensures your packages arrive undamaged, are left safe if you're not home (or with a neighbor) and generally keeps UPS from being a PITA.

To each their own, but if I catch him, I'd show him some appreciation.

The truth of the matter is that I started this thread just for kicks and to get a few laughs. It worked as I have enjoyed reading throuhg the replies and clearly a few others had a little fun with it too. I am usually not here when UPS drops my packages safe and sound and I rarely ever have a large (heavy) order like this one shipped.

Our local UPS guy always takes good care to place my packages where they are not likely to be seen by anyone with mischief in mind. Heck he even covers them with a sheet of plastic when it rains.

I will certainly offer to give the guy a hand with the packages and am even willing to tip him. Thanks for the fun replies. TD

Well I do know that a little professional courtesy can say a lot about one's business. Just look at how Autogeek goes above and beyond the call of duty. They can't always please everyone the way they might like to be pleased but they often please many of their customers more than their customers expected to be pleased. I try to follow their lead as much as possible.

The nice thing is that the snow here has melted to the point that I once again have my plan to bring the stuff up in the cart on the riding mower. Our UPS guy does a friendly and thorough job and yes he is getting payed but he'll still get a little help from me.

Give him a bowl of that crock pot stuff you make!

As suggested by others, either help him or give him an unforgettable tip. With a good rep with them, there is a good chance that your package will being handled with care every time you have one coming and/or they will see to it that you get your box on time or early in the day.

Agreed, but unfortunately that doesn't stop the handling upstream where most things get damaged/destroyed/lost.

Well, the UPS driver has been here and gone. He doesn't hate me nor did he have to lug the packages up that God awful hill. I happened to look out the door just as he was backing the truck in and I had him just drop the boxes in a dry spot right behind the bumper of his truck. He was very grateful but he wasn't the normal delivery guy. I got them all up in the riding mower and the packages were all intact. Everyone's happy in the end.

You mean you didn't give him a tip, Dave?

"Remember to lift with your legs!"
