Thinking about buying a steamer...opinions please

steamers use less chemicals&are alot faster for door panels seat belts/steering wheels/dash vents

:iagree:I have had my McCulloch Heavy Duty Steamer for almost a week now. I must say all the post on steam cleaning have been very helpful. I have used it on filthy interiors. Leather and cloth. The steam allows you to use less chemicals, and speeds up the process. Most of the time just wiping off the dirt will do it! For cloth it works wonders on the heavyly soiled areas. I also have been using it in door jams, cup holders, dashes, and door panels. It has about 6 different attachments. For $89 I think I made a Great purchase. It will steam for 1 1/2 hours. Which is enough time to do a large SUV.
When I tackle an engine I'll let you know how that goes. By the way I still use my Aztec Hot Extractor too! Great combo!

Glad I found this thread.........I've been wanting a steamer for a while now and didn't know what to get because I didn't want to spend a ton either.

I think the cheaper steamers are very "wet". I use the McG listed above and it does work wonders... but it's short comings make me wonder what a professional model could do :)

I have a desderio and I paid over a grand for it. The steamer works great but the extractor sucks. My mom has a shark steamer and I tried it for details and it works great for cleaning cars. The shark is a lot smaller and it is around 100 bucks. I actually find myself using the shark instead of my high dollar desderio due to the convenience. Plus for a $100 if it breaks u can buy a new one instead of paying a lot for a "quality" steamer

I just bought one and it arives today. I got a steam storm elite from steamextreme.com I stumbles across it on the internet and it touts alot of similar specs that higher dollar machines do but it was only $160 shipped so I figured why not give it a try. I leave for vacation so I wont get a chance to try it on a car but when I get back Im going to really put it to the test.

I'm thinking of getting one of these too. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this after you've put it to the test.
