Thinking about trading in the CR-Z for a Fiat 500 Abarth, thoughts?

Not slamming you here but I've got a question or 2.

I was going to mess with VT ('sup VT!). My question, though, would have been: Yo, man... You quit smokin' yet?

It's good that you're enjoying the new ride. That's how it should be. :props:

Speaking of exhaust, mine cost a pretty penny. I mean - A LOT. If I told people how much I spent for a full turbo back, people would probably think I'm mad, stupid, or both.

They make exhaust systems for the car but in stock trim it has NO muffler, LOL! I plan on doing a short ram intake from Euro Compulsion pretty soon but the actual software tune will probably wait till next year, a little treat from some of our tax refund. Its kinda cool to do a mod and enjoy it for a while and then look forward to the next one, renews the car everytime you do it. I will admit that my budget also makes me do this but because of this I do appreciate mods more when I do them this way.

Hahaha but then you get into the "I will never be done" mindset :P

My new truck stayed stock for 2 months. Although I am dragging out the mods month by month on mine.

Exhaust systems do cost a lot of money, I paid $1500 for a 3" downpipe and SS Pitbull exhaust for my GN back in the day but that was circa 1997, LOL!

Way down the road I could see swapping in an upgraded downpipe on my car but other than that I don't wanna mess with the exhaust, it sounds soooo good! I'll probably add a turbo timer to be on the safe side, although the car already has a built in system after you shut it off to keep the turbo safe.

@klasse sometimes I just get in where I fit in...even 65 mph in snow. I've got close to 2000 miles of snow under my wheels this season.

@Brutal hooked on vaping but I have to admit that I bought a few packs recently after I acquired a dangerous co driver that I recently had to put on a greyhound for Delaware while in Buffalo. First homicidal thoughts I've had in a long time. Dude actually shut the interstate down on two occasions...sorry excuse, but real story.

Busse rd I think...get them all confused...I just follow the qualcom...Maybe One UPS Way address???

There is a UPS facility of Busse, Busse goes all over the place, stops here, starts there, LOL! IIRC One UPS Way is Hodgkins.

You're right. I was thinking of either 500 or 800 Busse rd...much smaller facility.

I move a lot out of Hodgkins and EGV~ both UPS and FedEx.
Whichever vehicle you pick will definitely be impeccable.

I've done a couple little mods to the car already. First mod were the WeatherTech's, next was a red nylon pull down strap for the hatch, then my buddy installed MUCH NEEDED LED's in the maplights. Today the stubby antenna arrives, so that will go on tonight after work.

In the next couple weeks I'll be ordering the Euro Compulsion short ram intake and I'm also considering not only adding yellow bulbs for my projector fogs but also adding yellow bulbs to my headlights, non HIDs.

Future mods also include a leather shiftboot w/red stitching to match the steering wheel, shiftknob and e-brake handle. Might change out the shiftknob too. Tried to get a cueball shiftknob but because my car has a weird shiftrod where the knob actually bolts down from the top that's not going to work sadly. I had a real cueball on my MINI and loved it. I like doing a lot of little mods, they add up!

I was going to suggest a turbo blanket for cheap & effective mod.

Saw the PTP... Not exactly what I thought a snail blanket should be.

I'd probably try to find a way to do proper wrapping than what is suggested.

They've got those at 500 Madness, about $175 and comes with some oil tube, not really sure what this mod does, can you tell me please?

Sup, K.

I was like - "Whoah! $175 smackers!" lol

It basically boils down to keeping the temp under the hood down. Stop & go traffic during summer is quite noticeable for me with vs without (I'm running a Blouch 18GXT). The other plus is quicker spool.

Personally I think the asking price sort of defeats the cheap mod philosophy. The other thing I don't like is the placement... I'd rather it be hugging the hot side rather than laying above the heat shield.

Personally I would wait and see more [affordable] options. Mine was $59 shipped.

I am Italian and the fiat is an Italian car. I go against a product maked in my country. but here in Italy the fiat is often joke about the poor quality of the products used for build it
Do you know for what reason fiat maked the button who activates the defrost rear window on a fiat? to warm the hands of those who will have to push it to the dealer mechanics
Lol ))

Well hopefully our Fiats are better because they're made in Mexico but it is a cheap car and because of that certain things are to be expected but I just hope its a pretty good car as far as mechanicals go but then again its only going to be run "hard" once a year down on the Dragon run, can't wait to hear that exhaust in the mountains!

You'r right the fiat who are maked for be selled to the international market are completly different )) mine was just a joke abaut italian fiat .
And 500 abarth could be a cute littel monster if you tunning her )) Abarth is a old tuning clubs for fiat and lancia as well he was born for make a race cars here just look at the lancia strato's who won many rally competition in the 70's /75's with her 420 horse power ))

Not a fan of turbo blankets, in cars that are run hard for long periods at high output, I have seen lots of housing cracking; mainly in turbo rx7s. I would install a better heat shield

IMO I would never get upside down on a car I waited to buy my first new car my evo until I could put down almost a 1/3 of the price and only finance for three years. I would wait until you pay off the crz and if there is something that truly tickles your fancy at that point trade it or sell it depending on how much of a difference you get and get what you like. I understand going YOLO but do u want to go BANKRUPTO?

Sorry lol only read to page five I guess congrats on the new car sure your enjoying it, it is a nice little car.
